Dear Carmel Board of Zoning Appeals Member:
We have filed a Development Standards Variance request on behalf of our clients Pete and Jean
Driscoll for the property at 741 1st Ave NW. The owners would like to build a three car detached
garage on the property to replace a garage on the lot that was even larger than what is proposed,
but was in extremely poor condition when the property was purchased by the Driscolls.
The underlying zoning does not limit the garage size if attached, but because the proposed garage
must be detached due to a storm water drain that dissects the subject property, a variance is
required for the owners to build the garage as desired.
