HomeMy WebLinkAbout22 c800 site specifications.pdfGENERAL: WHEREVER A CONFLICT OR DERCIENCY OCCURS BETWEEN THE CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS AND SPEGFlCATIONS OF THIS IMMEDIATE PROJECT AND THE CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS AND SPECIFlCATIONS ADOPTED BY THE LOCAL GOVERN AGENCIES, THE HIGHER OR MORE RESTRICTIVE STANDARD OR SPECIRCATION SHALL APPLY. A. STANDARD CONDITIONS 1. The Contractor shall be responslble for obtalning or verifying that all permits and approvals are obtained from the respective city, county and state agencies pnor in starting constructioa 2 It shall be the responsibility of each utility, contractor ond/or sub-controctor to obtaln oll permits and approvols to open cut any rood Prom the appropriote tlepmtment_ 3. IL shall be the Contractor s responslbility to determine the ezact locaCion of all ezisting utilities In the viclnity of the construcPion area prior to starting construction. 4. It shall be the Contractor's responsibllity for nofification and coordination of oll construction with the respective utJfty companies. 5. It shall be the responsibllity of the Developer ond Controctor to mointaln quahTy wntrol throughout the project; foiWre to do so moy resWt in removol ond replocement of the defective work_ It is recommended thot [he Developer have a quallfied inspector on the ]ob slte at oll times during construcCion. 6- It Is essenYiol thot the work be done in conIunction with thls project shall be installed accarding to these specifimtions. The engineer will be required ta certify to certain portions of this praject upan completion. Therefore, it is necessary to obtaln approval and acceptance by the city, county, slate or govem agency that construction was done m compliance with these plans and speafim[ions. B. CLEARING AND GRUBBING 1. Trees should only be deared only where the area is to be occupied by road and surfaced areas in accordance with specificaPians of the city, munty, state or govem agency. 2. Trees shall be removed from the project slte or buried wlth'm the project as directed by the �eveloper and only In the areas designoted. 3- Trees shall be removed from the project where they intertere directly with the placement o! storm or sanitary sewers and thot such excavatlon is or will be fotol to such adjacent trees. 4. The Contractor shall endeavor to save and prntect trees of volue and work whlch do not 'mp olr constructlon of 'mp rovements w desig noted. In the event cut or fill exceeds 0-5 foot over the root areq the Developer sholl be consulted wlth respect to protective measures to be taken, if ony, to preserve such trees. 5. The controctar shall be responsible for determining the method for protection of tops, trunks and roots of existing trees on the project site that are to remaln. Exlsfing trees subjed to construcfion damage shall be boxed, fenced or otherwise protected before any adjacent work ls started. Earth or material or equipment shall not be stackpiled or stored wlthin the spread of branches. 6ranches whlch need to be removed or are broken shall be neatly trimmed and shall be covered with tree paint. D. STRIPPING OF TOPSOIL 1. The contractor shall verify that all topsoll has been removed in the areas to be occupied by roads, walks and desig nated bulldin� areas. PVC sanitary sewer pipe shall have a minimum stiffness o( 46 PSI (or each dlameter when measured at 59 vertfcal ring de(lection and tested fn accordance with ASTM D-2412. 4. Areas Subject to Vehicular Traffic 1. Ihe Contractor shall be responsible for heating the pipe jointing motenal so as to prevent freezing of joints. 5. Design'. The minimum wall thickness far PVC sewer pipe and lateral sewer pIpe 55- inches or less In diameter shall wnform to SDft-35 Type PSM os specified in ASTM D-3034. The minlmum woll thlckness for PVC sewer pipe greater thon 15- inches In diometer sholl conform to T-1 as speclfied in ASTM F-679. 6. Markin : the date of manufacture dass of i e 9 PP, s eafication destination size of � i e name or trademark of P PP manufacturer, and ldentiflcation of plant lacation shall be legible marked on the outside of each pipe section In accordance with the ASTM D-3034. 7. CerGficatlon: The conhactor upon re9uest shall furnlsh the Department with manufacturers certficaYion stating that the pipe supplied meets or exceeds all requirements of the applicable ASTM standards and these standards. a. Joinls L Flexlble gasketed joints shall be compression type so that when assembled, the gasket inslde the bell will be compressed radially on the pipe spigot to form a watertight seal. The gasket shall be a continuous nng of flexible �oint rubber of a composition and texture which is resistant to common ingredlents of sewage, industnal wosles and groundwater, and which endure permanently under the condltions likely to be imposed by this service The gasket shall conform the requiremwts of ASTM F-477. 2. NO WLVENT CEMENT JOINTS SHALL BE ALLOWE�. b. Ducfile iran pipe larger than thirty sIx (36) feet In diameter shall be approved on a case by case bwis by the department. 2 Fittings FFttings shall be standardzed for type the pipe of plpe and Jolnt specified and shall compty with AN51 A-21.10, AWWA C-� 10. c. 3. Bedding-Sanitory Sewers 1. All sanitary sewer pipe shall be laid to the fines and grade shown on the approved design plans unless otherwise opproved by the departmenL 3. Bedding material shall be compacted No. 8 crushed stone or No. 8 fractured face aggregate and shall be placed the trench bottom such that after the pipe has been placed thereon, lmbedded to grade and aligned, there d remalns a 4-'mch minimum depth of matenal below the pipe barrel and a minimum of 3-mches below lhe bell. 4. The bell holes sholl be excmoted so thot the entire Pipe barred rests on the bedding. The following presents the bedding requirements for each pipe dassiOcatlon: b. Flexlble Plpe: PVC Plpe 1. No. 8 crushed stone or No. 8 fractured face a�gregate shall be placed around the sldes of the p pe up to the sides of the pipe to the spnngLne(1/2 the outslde diometer). Dewatenng ond Control of Surfoce Water �� Where groundwater is encountered, the Contractor shall make every effort necessary to secure a dry trench bottom before loying plpe. The Contractor shall keep the site free of sur(ace water at all times and shall mstall drainage ditches, dikes, pumps and perform other work necessary to divert or remove rainfall and other accumulation of surface water and�or groundwater shall be pertormed in a manner whlch will prevent the accumulation of woter within the construction orea. 4� UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL SURFACE WATER AND�OR GROUNDWATER BE DISCHARGED TO , DISPOSED OF OR ALLOWED TO FLOW INTO THE CIiY'S SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM. Trenching 1. This shall be the case where woter main is either above or below the sewer. The crossing shall be arranged so that the sewer joints wlll be equldistant and as far as possible from the water main joints. Where a water moin crosses under a sewer, adequate structural support shall be provided !or Ihe sewer to prevent damage to the water main. 3.
