After the city work was done we began experiencing backups beyond those caused periodically by tree roots. My contractor's video of inside the pipes clearly shows the wrong connection pipe and offset of the main sewer line where the city contractor work was done. Because we we had to excavate to repair that section, we 5 decided to replace the line all way to the house at the same time to eliminate any future problems with tree roots. I will need to make a copy of the video made by my contractor in the fall of 2012 if you'd like to see it. Meanwhile, could you please document for me exactly what work was done at the connection to my property right of way by the city contractor prior to October 29, 2012 as I would like to review those details. There may have been an instance where to properly make the repair a certain amount of work was done on the lateral outside of the right-of-way but my understanding is that this work did not extend too far onto the individual property. Was the work performed by your contractor from the house all the way out to the City sewer(and through the work done by the City contractor) essentially making the repair for the City's contractor? Or did the work stop at the work done by the City contractor? What is frustrating to me is that the connection to the city sewer on my side became a problem only after work was done by the city contractor and the sidewalk was installed. At that point we discovered that our side of the pipe was shifted down so the sewage couldn't get up over the lip to drain and it was draining slowly or backing up into the house. Obviously installing pipe all the way from the house was my responsibility but we decided if we had to dig up the problem area near the road to connect to the city, it would be more economical in the long term to replace the entire clay pipe at the same time. I know I have the DVD from the contractor camera somewhere,but I haven't figured out where I filed that. I'd be happy share that with you when I do locate it. Within a few months it appeared that four of the five houses on the south side of Napanee had similar work done and I can only guess that it was all necessitated by the work done by the city contractor.
