HomeMy WebLinkAboutD-2196-14 Amend 3-18 Order of Business SPONSOR: Councilor Seidensticker ORDINANCE D-2196-14 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL,INDIANA AMENDING CHAPTER 3,ARTICLE 1,DIVISION II, SECTION 3-18 OF THE CARMEL CITY CODE WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, is empowered to adopt rules regarding the conduct of its meetings and the operation of its affairs; and WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, desires to amend Chapter 3, Article 1, Division II, Section 3-18 of the Carmel City Code to clarify it Order of Business. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, as follows: Section 1. The foregoing Recitals are incorporated herein by this reference. Section 2. Chapter 3, Article 1, Division II, Section 3-18 of the Carmel City Code should be and the same are hereby amended to read as follows: "Sec. 3-18 Order of Business The Common Council shall conduct its order of business as follows: 1. Invocation 2. Pledge of Allegiance 3. Recognition of City Employees and Outstanding Citizens 4. Approval of Minutes 5. Recognition of Persons Who Wish to Address the Council 6. Council, Mayoral,—and Clerk-Treasurer Comments/Observations 7. Action on Mayoral Vetoes 8. Claims 9. Committee Reports a. Finance, Administration and Rules Committee b. Land Use, Annexation and Economic Development Committee c. Parks, Recreation and Arts Committee d. Utilities, Transportation and Public Safety Committee e. Carmel Redevelopment Commission f. All reports designated by the Chair to qualify for placement under this category 10. Old Business 11. Public Hearings 12. New Business 13. Other Business 14. Announcements 15. Execution of Documents 16. Adjournment" Section 3. All prior City ordinances or parts thereof that are inconsistent with any provision of this Ordinance are hereby repealed as of the effective date of this Ordinance. Section 4. If any portion of this Ordinance is declared unconstitutional, invalid or unenforceable by the valid judgment or decree of a court of competent jurisdiction, such unconstitutionality, invalidity or unenforceability shall not affect any of the remaining portions of same. Section 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage, execution by the Mayor and such publication as is required by law.
