Filed by Kristen Kohl with Sign Craft Industries on behalf of Estridge Homes. 4 General Info: The Petitioner is requesting variance approval for one tenant, Estridge Homes,to have a logo that is 100%of the total sign area in this multi-tenant building. The site is surrounded by / retail and business uses to the north and west. To the south is Carmel it Middle School and to the east of the y ( site are apartments. Please see the petitioner's information packet for +- more details. Analysis: - A business in a multi-tenant building ' ,.... is only allowed to have a logo #! °` comprise 25%of the sign area The t . proposed wall sign for the Estridge • Pl t PF tenant will be placed on the northwest Ai + t P, 0. } corner of the building and is 100% logo. The logo, however,is limited to just the name of the business, "Estridge,"and is only 14.32 sq. ft. The Department believes this is modest variance request due to the size of the sign and the branding and trademarked nature of the logo. However, the Department is not in support of a cabinet type sign. The signs allowed for this shopping center need to be internally illuminated, individual letters. The Department will support the variance for 100%logo,but would like the sign to be individual letters on a red backer panel. This will still produce the same design for the sign, but will better match the other signs on the building. The Department is in support of this variance. Petitioner's Findings of Fact: Please refer to the petitioner's information packet for their Findings of Fact. Recommendation: The Dept.of Community Services recommends approval of Docket No. 14090014 V,with the Condition that the sign be individual letters and not a cabinet sign. 1
