RECENT PROJECTS
Local business assistance:
>>> Allied Solutions: Met with and worked with representatives of
Allied Solutions to develop a strategy to help recruit new employees.
Consulted on publicity strategy and reviewed materials. Worked with city
staff to further publicize the effort. Early results look good for this local
company.
>>> American Specialty Health: Worked with American Specialty
Health on its strategy to help recruit new employees and reach out to
central Indiana media. Also worked in conjunction with city staff to further
publicize this effort.
>>> Joe's Auto Shop: Met with Joe Peil, owner, about concerns
related to highway construction and local street work near his business.
Developed a plan for temporary signage that would include his business
and potentially others nearby. Working with Department of Community
Services to get signs posted as soon as possible.
>>> Met with Toby Hughes, head of Canature, a new Canadian-
based business that is consolidating some of its functions to establish a
new U.S. headquarters in Carmel. Will continue to work with him on ways
the city can assist in the future.
>>> Consulted on information requests from potential new
businesses looking to relocate or expand in Carmel; also answered
questions sent from New York-based art business seeking information on
the Carmel Arts & Design District.
Corporate HQ Update: Researched and compiled an updated list of
corporate headquarters in Carmel. Working to finalize that list which now
includes more than 70 companies who have international, national, regional
or state headquarters in Carmel. Once verified and vetted by a local panel
of business experts, will publish online and make available to the public in
order to further enhance our efforts to attract more new business and
economic development projects.
Pilot Talent Attraction: Tactical Economic Development group from Invest
Hamilton County — secured commitments from two local corporate
headquarters to join us on the launch of a Pilot Talent Attraction program
designed to help local businesses attract the best talent possible for their
job openings. This will be an ongoing project involving Tim Monger and
several economic development representatives from Fishers, Noblesville,
Westfield and the IEDC.
Major event planning: Working with staff and PGA on a proposed event
that would take place in 2016 in conjunction with BMW Championship golf
tournament to be held at Crooked Stick.
New tourism initiative: Working with staff on an exciting new idea to
further enhance Carmel's draw for tourists from around the Midwest.
Finalizing plans to present a proposal that will also benefit several local
businesses directly, many others indirectly. More details to come.
ONGOING PROJECTS
#31 BITES: Continued efforts to assist businesses along US 31 corridor.
Worked with volunteers with the Carmel Mayors Youth Council to distribute
another large batch of orange wristbands to continue to show support for
local businesses.
Cultural Identification project: Continued to work with staff and others on
project designed to further identify various cultural and geographically
unique aspects of Carmel as a way to further enhance attraction of
economic development and visitors. This will be an ongoing project.
Public Art: Continued to work with consultant, staff, on potential projects
involving public art in Carmel. All projects discussed were designed to
strategically attract visitors and economic development to Carmel. This will
be an ongoing project.
Google Business View: Continued working with staff on vetting a proposal
by a local firm regarding an economic development tool that may help
promote local businesses, local attractions and other features of Carmel.
Jobs App: Continue to work with staff to explore options to launch a
TweetMyJobs app; including looking into other potential services.
Tourism App: Nearing completion and launch ... continued meetings with
staff; consultation and working with Bluebridge officials to fine tune and roll
out a new web-based application for cell phones and tablets designed to
more easily connect local restaurants, businesses and events with visitors
and residents seeking updated and up-to-the-minute information as they
visit Carmel.
Economic Development:
>>> Additional consultation with Mayor on a national firm considering
an economic development investment in Carmel.
>>> Research of more high profile properties with potential business
uses; Communication with owners and/or leasing agents, working with
various city staff members to offer assistance when possible.
>>> Continued efforts to work with Indy Partnership and Pedcor to
supply information for a prospective business looking for land to develop
commercially in Carmel.
>>> Meeting with local developers and Carmel Redevelopment
Commission to discuss potential projects.
Ongoing project updates
____ >>> Savor Indiana project: Continuing to monitor the editing and production
phases of this film project. --
>>> IUPPI Study: Continued to work with Drew Klacik and John Marron of
IUPPI as they study redevelopment in Carmel for the past two decades.
Major research project.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLANNING AND STRATEGY
Carmel Redevelopment Commission: Consultation and support for
executive director Corrie Meyer on a number of initiatives to further the
CRC mission of redevelopment in Carmel; including community relations,
media relations, social media outreach, research and consultation.
Visit Hamilton County Continue to work with officials at Visit Hamilton
County on ongoing initiatives — including an effort to preserve highway
signage along 1-465 that directly benefit local hotels and businesses.
IEDC: Worked with state officials regarding the dissemination of news
about exciting local projects — including a new jobs announcement from
Emerging Threats.
Media and Press Conferences: Worked with city staff on a number of
media requests.
>>> Provided consultation and assistance to staff and other city
officials regarding upcoming rollout of Storm Water Utilities communication
to local residents and businesses. An ongoing project.
>>> Worked with staff and community volunteers to assist with
promotion and media coverage of October Gallery Walk; Oktoberfest and
other events.
>>> Worked with staff to publicize and provide media relations for
city's Main Street construction project.
>>> Social media and other assistance to help publicize local events.
Specific Economic Development Projects: Continued to work with
Mayor Brainard and others to attract various specific companies looking to
relocate offices and/or headquarters, including: Financial firms, corporate
headquarters, professional services firm, a major employer currently doing
business in another state, and a variety of smaller businesses. Ongoing
effort. Also continued working with Carmel City Center staff to develop
various marketing tools to be used to lure business and visitors to City
Center offerings.
SelectUSA: Continued to work, under the direction of the Mayor, with
SelectUSA on opportunities to market the city of Carmel to an international
audience of investors and site selectors.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
Social media: Continued to embellish the City's use of social media to
communicate with local residents. Increased use of city's Facebook pages
and Twitter accounts to help publicize important information of interest to
the City and its residents.
Research and writing: Under the direction of the Mayor and the Director
of CommunityRelations and Economic Development, research was done

on a variety of topics designed to provide accurate and updated facts and
information to a variety of sources, all geared toward increasing economic
development opportunities and showcase the city to a broader audience.
City web site: Continued working to update the city's website. This is an
ongoing effort. Special emphasis placed on areas of interest to outside
business entities exploring options to relocate; various quality of life
elements.
