Great news — a 2CCp ®® Mike, Some background and an opinion: ®$ 6 When the Burger King came through for ADLS Amendment approval (Docket No 150-00 ADLS Amend), it was made abundantly clear in meetings with the Department that they were permitted only one sign on site They indicated at that time that they had no problem removing the roof sign in favor of the ground sign When we noticed that they had erected their ground sign (some time in September 2001), Dawn noted that their Sign Permit(Permit No. S-152-00) had expired The permit was issued September 8, 2000, and is only valid for six months, expiring on March 8, 2001. Should it come to the point of having to issue a Notice of Violation, we will have to address both the lack of a valid permit and the issue of the number of Identification Signs on site After brief discussion among Adrienne, Dawn and myself, we decided to honor the permit and only require the property owner to immediately remove the roof sign As for the question of allowing him to keep both signs for an indefinite period, I believe that Mr Coffman's attitude precludes this option If we allow him to essentially bully his way into two signs, then the message eventually gets out that the tactic will work with the Department. If he had come to us beforehand asking for some consideration, I think we might have been able to show some flexibility for the duration of the Carmel Drive project, but not now Laurence Original Message From: Pattyn, Dawn E Sent: Thursday,October 04,2001 4 40 PM To: Lillig, Laurence M;Keeling,Adrienne M Cc: Hollibaugh, Mike P Subject: RE.Great news Ok- I have spoken twice with J.R. Frieberger w/Dart Corp. (they did the ground sign for Burger King) he had spoken with Fred Coffman (owner of this Burger King)and he didn't want to commit to a date that the wall sign would be removed. J R., gave me Mr Coffman's phone number I contacted him and he REALLY DOESN'T want to commit to when the removal of the wall sign will be. I tried to explain that this is in violation of our sign ordinance - he would not listen - he went on about how the construction on Carmel Drive has lost him thousands in revenue and how he will not be re-electing Mayor Brainard I tried to get him back to the sign issue and then he did not wish to talk with me- He would like a call from Mike Hollibaugh Just thought I would update everyone-and Mike you can reach Mr Coffman at 290-8033 Original Message From: Lillig, Laurence M Sent: Monday, October 01, 2001 1014 AM To: Keeling, Adrienne M Cc: Pattyn, Dawn E Subject: RE.
