Dear Members:
1201 Third Avenue, Suite 2200, Seattle,Washington 98101
Telephone- (206) 624 -8100 Fax: (206) 624 -1645
This opportunity to present, for your consideration, our revised building design for the
proposed Shurgard facility in Carmel, is sincerely appreciated. The following
presentation illustrates the overall design, as well as the materials and detailing, which
has been very carefully reconsidered to take your recent comments and concerns into
account.
Our company strives, with each of our projects, to fit properly into the fabric of our
immediate neighborhoods and the surrounding municipalities. A successful facility,
which will serve both Shurgard and the community well, is a consistent goal for each
new store.
With your review of our revised design, we hope that you will agree that our proposed
design will result in a superior facility of which both Carmel and Shurgard can be
enthusiastically and justifiably proud. It is certain to become one of the flagship stores in
our portfolio.
Thank you again, very much, for your time and consideration.
Jo,
Director of Design

PRESENTATION OF BUILDING MATERIALS
The photo herewith presented illustrates one of' Shurgard's most highly regarded stores.
It is located in an affluent •neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia, a suburb named Ansley Park.
The primary entrance to the Ansley Park neighborhood, which contains some of Atlanta's
oldest homes, is located directly across the street from the entrance to our store.
The photo included, illustrates the three primary materials which have been combined in
the revised design of the Carmel store. They are:
E.I.F.S. (Exterior Insulating Finish System) - This is a synthetic stucco material
sometimes referred to as Dry -Vit, a primary manufacturer of the product. This material
is located at the top of the left building, featured below the roof line and in the building
on the right. The surface is textured with both raised and grooved elements for additional
architectural interest.
Rough Textured, Split Face Masonry - This material can be found in the piers to
which the wrought iron fence is attached as well as surrounding a smoother, lighter
masonry element located in the building on the left.
Smooth, Scored Face Masonry - This material, as mentioned above, is the lighter
colored masonry element, surrounded by the rough textured masonry in the building on
the left side of the photo.
In your review of the following drawings, which illustrate the revised design of the Carmel
store, you will find that the materials listed above along with accents, using colored lines and
glazed tiles are used exclusively. The metal surfaces previously included have been deleted from
our design.

PROJECT SITE PLAN
Please refer to this plan when reviewing the various elevations of the Carmel project. The
elevations have been labeled to correspond with the directional views as outlined on this site plan.
For instance:
The "Northwest Elevation" as indicated by an arrow, on the site plan, shows the
direction one would be facing when viewing the facility.
Leaving the site plan unfolded for reference may help in your review of the illustrations that
follow.
