This Section includes sectional overhead doors. B. Types of sectional overhead doors Include the Following: 1. Overhead service doors. 2. Vertical overhead doors. C. Operation of sectional overhead doors Include the Following: 1. Chain operation (Overhead service doors). 2. Electric motor operation with remote control (Vertical overhead door). 1.02 REFERENCES A. Product Data: Submit roughing-in diagrams, and installation instructions for each type and size of sectional overhead door. 1. Provide operating instructions and maintenance information. B. Shop Drawings for special components and installations that are not dimensioned or detailed in manufacturer's data sheets. 1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Manufacturer's Qualifications: Furnish each sectional overhead door as a complete unit produced by one manufacturer, including hardware, accessories, mounting and installation components. 1. Furnish sectional overhead door units by one manufacturer for entire Project. B. Insert and Anchorages: Furnish inserts and anchoring devices that must be set in concrete or built into masonry to install units. Provide setting drawings, templates, instructions, and directions to install anchorage devices. Coordinate delivery with other work to avoid delay. 1. Manufacturer: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide the following product, no substitutions: 1. Wayne-Dalton Corporation – Model TS-150 Contact: Bob Polak – Timbers-Kovar Co. Phone: (440) 951-1210 B. Give preference to materials with high recycled content and those that are extracted/manufactured within 500 miles of the project site. Include these products in Contractor’s LEED Action Plan and Subcontractor Scope and product purchase review in order to increase the likelihood of achieving 2 points for recycled content and 2 points for regional materials. 2.02 SECTIONAL OVERHEAD DOORS A. Insulated Sectional Overhead Doors: Insulated steel tongue-and-groove jointed panels with roll-formed internal struts with polypropylene rib caps to provide thermal break; end caps to provide tight seal at jambs; and hardware plates at all fastener points. 1. Complying with ANSI/DASMA 102 requirements for commercial doors. 2. Wind Load Performance: Withstanding 15.2 psf (728 Pa) external pressure and 12 psf (575 Pa) internal pressure when tested in accordance with ASTM E 330. 3. Insulation: Foamed-in-place high density polyurethane core with flamespread of 10 and smoke density of 210 when measured in accordance with ASTM E 84. 4. Finish: Baked-on polyester primer and finish coat. a. Color: White 5. Panel Thickness: 1-3/8 inches (35 mm). 6. Face Sheet Thickness: 26 gauge (0.45 mm). 7. Panel Design: Flush. 8. Thermal Resistance: Calculated "R" value of 13.34. 9. View Windows: Single glazed aluminum sash section. a. Quantity – Two (2) 10. Glazing: 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick clear glass. 11. Joint Seals: Integral tongue-in-groove section design with factory installed section joint seals with a two piece “bulb” shaped astragal for the bottom section. 12. Interior side lock – suitable for padlock. B. Track: All track, vertical mounting angles and brackets will be commercial quality steel minimum 16 ga. thickness, hot-dipped galvanized. Track is 2" standard. Vertical track to be graduated providing wedge type weathertight closing with continuous reverse angle mounting for steel jambs and are fully adjustable to seal door at jambs. Horizontal track will be reinforced with continuous angle of adequate length and gauge to help prevent deflection. B. Hardware: Hinge & Roller Assembly - All hinges and brackets will be made from hot- dipped, galvanized steel. Track rollers will be case-hardened inner steel races with 10- ball, two-inch roller. General: Springs will be torsion type, low-stress, helical wound, oil-tempered spring wire to provide minimum 10,000 cycles of use - or meet specified cycles - on continuous steel shaft; (solid CRS). Spring fittings and drums will be made of die cast, high-strength aluminum. Pre-formed galvanized steel aircraft cable shall provide a minimum of a 5:1 safety factor. 2.05 ELECTRIC DOOR OPERATORS A. Heavy Vertical Overhead Door Operator: Model RHX True Gear Head Type Door Operator: 1. Electric Motor: UL listed. a. Rating: 1) 1/2 horsepower single phase or three phase with automatic thermal reset overload. b. Motor frame comply with: 1) NEMA 48 for 1/2 hp single phase. b. Construction: 1) Open drip-proof construction. 2) Totally Enclosed Non Ventilated – TENV construction. b. The operator shall be suited for: 1) NEMA ICS 6 Type 1 general purpose environment. b. Reduction: Primary reduction is worm gear in oil bath. Duty cycle: Accommodate heavy usage, up to 60 cycles per hour under a large constant load. 1) Brake: DC Disc type with selectable Progressive Braking for smooth stopping. 1) Clutch: Adjustable torque-limiter type. 2) Limit System: LimitLock limit system, magnetic type providing absolute positioning with push to set and remote setting capabilities. Limit system shall remain synchronized with the door during manual operation and supply power interruptions. 2. Control System: Microprocessor based with relay motor controls on a single board. System incorporates a 16 character Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) to display the system status. System shall include the following: a. Capable of monitoring and reporting on a variety of operating conditions, including: Current operating status, Current command status, Motor movement status, Current error status (if applicable), Hoist Interlock status (if applicable), External Interlock status, and 24VDC status. b. A delay-on-reverse operating protocol. c. Maximum run timers in both directions of travel that limit motor run time in the event a clutch slips or some other problem occurs. d. Provisions for the connection of a 2-wire monitored photo-eye or a 2-wire monitored edge sensor, as well as non-monitored 2-wire sensing edges, photo-eyes or other entrapment protection devices. e. Control action will be constant contact close until a monitored entrapment device is installed, allowing for selection of momentary contact. f. Provisions for connection of single and/or 3-button control stations. g. Provisions for connection of an external 3-wire radio controls and related control devices. h. On board open, close and stop control keys for local operation. i. CodeDodger radio receiver that is dual frequency cycling at 315 Mhz and 390 Mhz capable of storing 250 single button and/or 250 Open-Close-Stop transmitters with the ability to add and/or delete transmitters individually, identify and store activating transmitter IDs. 3. Mounting: a. Wall-mount chain/sprocket coupling to door. 1. Release: a. Release shall be a pull and hold type mechanism with single cable operation and an integrated interlock switch on hoist units. 2. Hoist: Chain hoist consists of chain pocket wheel, chain guard and smooth hand chain on hoist units. 1. Entrapment Protection: a. Control system shall have provisions to connect monitored entrapment protection devices such as monitored electric sensing edge, or monitored photo-eye and to provide constant contact close control operation in lieu of such devices. 2. Control accessories: a. Operator Controls: 1) Key operation with open, close, and stop controls. 1) Controls for interior location. 1) Controls surface mounted. b. Waste Management – Waste associated with the demolition, and construction of the project, including salvage, delivery, installation, and commissioning of products or systems should use waste management practices in accordance with section 01524 “Construction Waste Management”. 3.02 INSTALLATION A. General: Install door and operating equipment complete with necessary hardware, jamb and head mold strips, anchors, inserts, hangers, and equipment supports according to final Shop Drawings, manufacturer's instructions, and as specified. B. After completing installation, including work by other trades, lubricate, test, and adjust doors to operate easily, free from warp, twist, or distortion. C. Train maintenance personnel on procedures and schedules related to door operation, and servicing. END OF SECTION 083613
