Main Distribution Panel Grounding. B. Bonding of Building Steel. C. Bonding 1.02 RELATED WORK A. Raceways. B. Wiring. 1.03 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS A. Earthing System (ground rods) Resistance: less than 5 ohms. 1.04 SUBMITTALS A. Submittals are required for all materials specified herein in accordance with Specification Section 01300. B. Test Reports: Indicate overall resistance of the Earthing System. The Contractor shall furnish to Owner a certified Earth resistance test report documenting the actual Earth resistance value of the ground rod system that was measured. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 EQUIPMENT A. Furnish and install a water pipe bond conductor from the street side of the domestic water pipe entrance point to main entrance switchboard. Install a bond jumper across the water meter, main valve assemblies, and insulated flange joints. All water pipe connections shall be made with a properly sized Burndy GAR####-BU type ground connector or equivalent connector. Enclose wire in PVC-40 where exposed. B. Furnish and install a bonding conductor from the closest build structural steel member to the main entrance switchboard. Terminate the building steel bond conductor using the exothermic style connection. Enclose wire in PVC-40 where exposed. C. Provide additional bond conductor from main service to 20 feet of 5/8" minimum rebar or 4/0 copper conductor in concrete footing. Enclose wire in PVC-40 where exposed. D. Building grounding electrode conductor and all bonding conductors shall be sized as indicated on riser diagram. Giant Eagle Market #6550 The Bridges, Carmel, Indiana Building Shell Bid & Permit DLA Project 2014040.00 August 12, 2014 GROUNDING AND BONDING 260526 - 2 E. Provide and install 600 volt insulated bonding conductors throughout the distribution system with connection to bonding (or grounding) terminal on each panel with connections to other equipment wher e specifically indicated and noted. F. Bonding conductors shall be continuous where possible. Where splices are required, provide T & B, or approved equal, compression connectors of approved pattern. Compression connectors to be UL 467 recognized. Insulate connectors to equivalent thickness of conductors. G. Ground rods shall be copper clad carbon steel ITT Blackburn or equal. Minimum size 3/4" x 10'-0", sectional with number of sections as required to obtain a total ground resistance of less than 5 ohms (See Part 1 1.03A and 1.04B) Use exothermic style ground connections to rods H. Where no UL 467 recognized grounding bar is included with the main switchboard, provide a G/B Terminator for the termination of all grounding and bonding conductors. The G/B Terminator part number PET-KC-06 is a UL 467 recognized grounding bar for the termination of #6 AWG through 350kcmil cu/al conductors. The G/B Terminator can be acquired through MET Electrical Testing Co. at 724.772.4638. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION A. All grounding shall be installed in accordance with National Electrical Code requirement. B. All grounding and bonding conductors to be terminated by a UL 467 recognized means. C. All building steel sections shall be bonded together using the exothermic weld process with #3/0 AWG copper conductors. END OF SECTION
