Grounding System Integrity Verification Procedures. 1.02 SUBMITTALS A. Submittals will be furnished by Owner and forwarded to the Subcontractor. PART 2 - EXECUTION 2.01 GROUNDING SYSTEM INTEGRITY VERIFICATION PROCEDURES A. The purpose of this section is to provide a guideline for the installing contractor in order to find and correct installation issues dealing with the grounding system during the construction process. Giant Eagle will have an independent electrical testing agency monitor the electrical system for a period of one week near project completion in order to detect power quality anomalies and grounding system installatio n deficiencies. Completion of the following procedure will help to detect and correct these deficiencies prior to the final testing period. B. For each major piece of equipment, the electrical contractor must perform two tests during installation. Prior to energizing, the continuity between the neutral, ground and isolated ground conductors (as applicable) must be tested and recorded. Once energized, the current at the neutral ground bond of the power source of the equipment must be measured and recorded. The order in which equipment is tested and energized is not critical, however, dates and times must be recorded in order to determine which equipment may be creating issues. One exception to this rule is the prefabricated powerwall assembly(ies). This equipment should be tested prior to any other testing. C. The following forms must be completed during project construction and handed in at a time designated by the construction project manager. Electrical Contractor shall schedule this deadline at project kickoff meeting. Below is a brief description of each column on the form and the required information: Form 262300-A: 1. Column A1: Equipment Designation 2. Column A2: Record the date of testing. 3. Column A3: Record the time of day of the testing. 4. Column A4: At the time of the testing, installation of all branch circuits and feeders fed directly from the associated panelboard must be completed. This only applies to panelboards. Insert a “Yes” to indicate that this has been accomplished. 5. Column A5, A6 and A7: Continuity must be tested between the neutral and ground conductors (N - G), neutral and isolated ground conductors when applicable (N-IG) and ground and isolated ground conductors when applicable (G-IG). To do so, the source neutral, ground and isolated ground conductors must be disconnected at their source panel or transformer and tested at this point. For instance, when Panel ‘N’ branch circuits are all completely installed, the associated feeder from Panel ‘SDP’ shall be disconnected at SDP’s ground and neutral bars. Continuity should be tested at this point. Insert a “No” to indicate that continuity is not present. 6. Column A8: Insert any comments specific to this equipment. Column B1: Equipment Designation 2. Column B2: Record the date of testing. 3. Column B3: Record the time of day of the testing. 4.: Column B4: Refer to the building grounding system detail on the E700 sheets for locations on the grounding system at which current readings should be taken. These locations correspond to the points at which Giant Eagle’s independent testing agent will meter current. These are generally the main bonding jumper at the main service disconnect switch and the service bonding jumpers at each separately derived system (transformer). 5. Column B5: Immediately following energizing of the associated equipment, a current reading should be taken at the point indicated in column B4. Record the reading taken in amps in this column. 6. Column B6: Insert any comments specific to this equipment. Form 262300-A: Neutral-Ground Isolation testing A1 A2 A3 A4 A5 A6 A7 A8 Equipment Date Time Branches Complete? Continuity? It is the responsibility of the electrical contractor to eliminate all deficiencies found during this installation. There shall be no continuity between ground, neutral and isolated ground conductors. There shall be no current measured at the neutral ground bonds of each source. Deficiencies that can not be corrected shall be brought to the attention of the Construction Project Manager immediately. Giant Eagle’s independent electrical testing agency can be hired by the electrical contractor to help recti fy these deficiencies. END OF SECTION
