SECTION 323100 – THERMOPLASTIC GATES
PART 1: GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY

1.3 SUBMITTALS
A. Submit under provisions of Section 013300:
1. LEED Submittals:
a. Product Data for Credit MRc4.1 and 4.2: Recycled Content.
1) Indicate recycled content; indicate percentage of pre-consumer and post-
consumer recycled content per unit of product.
2) Indicate relative dollar value of recycled content product to total dollar
value of product included in project.
3) If recycled content product is part of an assembly, indicate the percentage
of recycled content product in the assembly by weight.
4) If recycled content product is part of an assembly, indicate relative dollar
value of recycled content product to total dollar value of assembly.
b. Product Data for Credit MRc5.1 and 5.2: Local/Regional Materials.
1) Sourcing location(s): Indicate location of extraction, harvesting, and
recovery; indicate distance between extraction, harvesting, and recovery
and the Project site.
2) Manufacturing location(s): Indicate location of manufacturing facility;
indicate distance between manufacturing facility and the project site.
3) Product Value: Indicate dollar value of product containing local/regional
materials; include materials cost only.
4) Product Component(s) Value: Where product components are sourced or
manufactured in separate locations, provide location information for each
component. Indicate the percentage by weight of each component per unit
of product.
2. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
a. Preparation instructions and recommendations.

b. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.

3. Shop Drawings: Showing layout, dimensions, spacing of components, and
anchorage and installation details.
1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Qualifications:
1. Installer Qualifications: An established firm with experience in the installation of
the specified product and have access to all manufacturers' required technical,
maintenance, specifications and related documents.
1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Deliver, store, and protect materials under provisions of Section 01 6000.
B. Packing and Shipping:
1. Transport, handle, store, and protect products so that they are in undamaged
condition when installed.
B. Storage and Protection:
1. Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging to protect surfaces until
ready for installation.
2. Store components off the ground in a dry covered area, protected from adverse
weather conditions.
1.6 PROJECT CONDITIONS
A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within
limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products
under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
PART 2: PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURER
A. Acceptable manufacturer:
1. Mueller Door, Inc., Ingleside, IL 60041; Tel: (800) 981-2040.
2. Approved equivalent.
2.3 SWINGING GATES
A. Basis-of-Design Product: Cor6 thermoplastic hinged swinging double gate system as
manufactured by Mueller Door, Inc.
1. Gate Panels: Custom design as shown on Project Drawings..

a. Construction: Three dimensional, monolithically molded urethane skins over a
styrene core with an internal aluminum frame.
b. Overall Panel Thickness: 6” nominal
c. Gate Height: As indicated on Drawings.
d. Gate Width: As indicated on Drawings.
e. Panel Color: As selected by Architect from manufacturer’s full range of
available colors.
2. Posts:
a. Provided by contractor
b. Type: 6” round galvanized Schedule 40 pipe filled with concrete. Concrete to
be finished off flat at top of post.
c. Length: As indicated on Drawings.
3. Hardware: Equip gates with manufacturer's standard hardware as required for
complete functional operation.
a. Hinges: Upper and lower aluminum brackets with 3” radial bearing.
b. Handles: Stainless steel; one at each gate.
c. Cane Bolts: Stainless steel; one at each gate.
2.4 ACCESSORIES
A. Fasteners: Stainless steel bolts of type, size, and spacing as recommended by fence
manufacturer for specific condition.
B. Concrete: See Section 033000 - Cast-In-Place Concrete.
PART 3: EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
B. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of
unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
3.2 PREPARATION
A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
B. Prepare the grade and remove surface irregularities, if any, which may cause
interference with the installation of fence or gates.
C. If preparation and condition is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of
unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
D. Cast concrete as detailed on approved shop drawings.

1. Minimum footing diameter:
a. Gate posts: 18 inches.
b. Allow 4 inches minimum concrete beneath post bottom.
E. Provide setting holes for embedment of fence posts or core drill existing concrete
footings for embedment of fence posts. Hole shall be 12 inches minimum greater than
post width.
3.3 INSTALLATION
A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and approved shop drawings.
B. Install posts plumb and level by setting post in hole in concrete and grouting solid.
Temporarily brace posts with 2 by 4 wood supports until grout is set.
C. Do not install bent, bowed, or otherwise damaged panels. Remove damaged
components from site and replace.
D. Gates:
1. Install gates and adjust hardware for smooth operation.
2. Provide PVC sleeve in concrete for cane bolts; one at each swinging gate opening.
3.4 ADJUSTING
A. After installation, test gates. Open and close a minimum of five times. Correct
deficiencies and adjust.
B. Touch-up damaged finish with paint supplied by manufacturer and matching original
coating.
3.5 CLEANING
A. Clean fence and gate panels and posts as recommended by manufacturer.
3.6 SITE ENVIRONMENTAL PROCEDURES
A. Waste Management: As specified in Section 017419 - Construction Waste
Management.
3.7 PROTECTION
A. Protect installed products until completion of Project.
B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products.
