Corporate guests from Noblesville were also present, along with the steering committee that includes Tim Monger and Christy Lugo. Also present were Economic Development representatives from Noblesville, Fishers, Westfield, the IEDC and Citizens Energy. The focus of this meeting was exploring a new program designed to help local businesses attract the best talent possible for their job openings. This will be an ongoing project. Job openings: During the above meeting, discussion was held regarding local businesses needing to fill many job openings. Invest Hamilton County expressed a willingness to assist ASH, Allied Solutions, GEICO and other companies in need of front-end and skilled employees by way of job fairs, targeted advertising and other methods — including social media — to help circulate the news and bring in qualified employees. Carmel recruitment: Working with the Mayor and the office of Economic Development and Community Affairs on a continued strategy of recruiting both employers and potential employees to Carmel by reaching out beyond Indiana. Discussion is ongoing. Joe's Auto Shop: Continued correspondence with Joe Peil, owner, about concerns related to highway construction and local street work near, his business on Main Street. Just prior to Thanksgiving, INDOT opened U.S. 31 and at roughly the same time, the city engineer decided to delay work on Main Street to the spring, relieving Joe's immediate desire for directional signage. We will be back in touch with this business and others in the spring of 2015 to coordinate a plan to assist these businesses once Main Street construction begins. Information requests: Consulted on information requests from potential new businesses looking to relocate or expand in Carmel. Corporate HQ update: Continued to work with city officials and local business leaders to research and compile an updated list of corporate headquarters in Carmel. Working to finalize that list which now includes more than 70 companies who have international, national, regional or state headquarters in Carmel. Major event planning: Continue to work with staff and the PGA on a proposed-event that-would-take-place-in 20-16-in-conjunction-with-BMW - Championship golf tournament to be held at Crooked Stick. New tourism initiative: Continue to work with staff on an exciting new idea to further enhance Carmel's draw for tourists from around the Midwest. Finalizing plans to present a proposal that will also benefit several local businesses directly, many others indirectly. More details-to come. ONGOING PROJECTS Cultural Identification project: Continued to work with staff and others on project designed to further identify various cultural and geographically unique aspects of Carmel as a way to further enhance attraction of economic development and visitors. This will be an ongoing project. Public Art: Continued to work with consultant, staff, on potential projects involving public art in Carmel. All projects discussed were designed to strategically attract visitors and economic development to Carmel. This will be an ongoing project. Google Business View: Continued working with staff on vetting a proposal by a local firm regarding an economic development tool that may help promote local businesses, local attractions and other features of Carmel. Jobs App: Continue to work with staff to explore options to launch a TweetMyJobs app; including looking into other potential services. Tourism App: In the final stages of completing and launching a new App for local tourism information... continued meetings with staff; consultation and working with Bluebridge officials to fine tune and roll out a new web-based application for cell phones and tablets designed to more easily connect local restaurants, businesses and events with visitors and residents seeking updated and up-to-the-minute information as they visit Carmel. Economic Development: >>> Additional consultation with Mayor on a national firm considering an economic development investment in Carmel. >>> Research of more high profile properties with potential business uses; Communication with owners and/or leasing agents, working with various city staff members to offer assistance when possible. >>> Continued efforts to work with Indy Partnership and Pedcor to supply information for a prospective business looking for land to develop commercially in Carmel. »%Meeting-with-local-developers-and-C-ar-mel-Redevelopment Commission to discuss potential projects. Ongoing project updates >>> Savor Indiana project: Videos are now completed and posted online: httg://www.savorindiana.com/ Now working with staff to develop a strategy to maximize the outreach of these videos to reach targeted audiences and to be used in a variety of other economic development projects. >>> Extraordinary Indiana project: The next round of video production, working with Associated Images, is set to begin with project planning in December. >>> IUPP/ Study: Continue to work with Drew Klacik and John Marron of IUPPI as they study redevelopment in Carmel for the past two decades. Major research project. PLANNING AND STRATEGY Carmel Redevelopment Commission: Consultation and support for executive director Corrie Meyer on a number of initiatives to further the CRC mission of redevelopment in Carmel; including community relations, media relations, social media outreach, research and consultation. IEDC: Continue ongoing work with state officials regarding the dissemination of news about exciting local projects - including a new jobs announcements. Media and Press Conferences: Worked with city staff on a number of media requests; Social media and other assistance to help publicize local events. Helped coordinate radio and video requests from Indianapolis media. SelectUSA: Continued to work, under the direction of the Mayor, with SelectUSA on opportunities to market the city of Carmel to an international audience of investors and site selectors. SPECIAL PROJECTS Indiana He—a thy_Com_m_u.nities;_Met_with,Nlay_o_r_and Indiana Chamber of Commerce representative on Carmel's assistance in rolling out a statewide "healthy communities" initiative that would use many of Carmel's attributes for good health habits as an example for other cities and towns to replicate. This will be an ongoing project. Informing residents: As part of ongoing discussion about the use of electronic media and e-mail to better communicate with residents, met with Jonathan Haag, local tech professional, to discuss ideas for new easy-to- use and informative platforms. This will be an ongoing project. Entrepreneurial hub: Met with local businesswoman about the potential to establish a Carmel-based hub for business start-ups. Research has begun to see what it would take and how it might be operated. This will be an ongoing project. - Carmel image: Met with Mayors Human Relations Committee, which is interested in new ideas to publicize a more accurate reflection of Carmel's image through social media and other electronic means. Meeting also included a local resident concerned about this topic. This is an -ongoing discussion. Social media: Continued to enhance and expand the City's use of social media to communicate with local residents. Increased use of city's Facebook pages and Twitter accounts to help publicize important information of interest to the City and its residents. Research and writing: Under the direction of the Mayor and the Director of Community Relations and Economic Development, research was done on a variety of topics designed to provide accurate and updated facts and information to a variety of sources, all geared toward increasing economic development opportunities and showcase the city to a broader audience. City web site: Continued working to update the city's website. This is an ongoing effort. Special emphasis placed on areas of interest to outside business entities exploring options to relocate; various quality of life elements.
