A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA, APPROVING THE TRANSFER AND
PRESENTATION OF PISTOL AND BADGE
WHEREAS, pursuant to IC 5- 22 -22 -6, the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
Carmel, Indiana ("Board"), may transfer to another certain personal property; and
WHEREAS, Officer Curtis Scott has provided many years of meritorious service to the
Carmel community as a Carmel City Police Officer, and will be retiring on January 5th, 2015; and
WHEREAS, it has been a long- standing policy and practice of the Carmel Police
Department to present to each of its sworn officers, upon retirement, their badge and firearm.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board, as follows:
Section I. The foregoing Recitals are incorporated herein by this reference.
Section 2. The following items may he transferred and presented to Officer Curtis Scott
upon his retirement, at the direction of the Chief of Police:
Officer Scott's Service Weapon, and
Carmel Police Department Badge /marked "Retired."
SO RESOLVED.
This Resolution was prepared by Jon Oberlander, Carmel Assistant City Attorney, on 12/22/14 at
4:21 p.m. No subsequent revision to this Resolution has been reviewed by Mr. Oberlander for legal
sufficiency or otherwise.
PASSED by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Carmel, Indiana, this
day of , 20_, by a vote of ayes and nays.

Dear Members:
I respectfully request Board approval to have the below listed weapons deleted from the Police
Department inventory:
Glock Model 22, 40 Cal. Pistol
Carmel Police Department Badge / marked Retired
As has been the custom and practice of the City and Department, the weapon and badge will be
presented to Curtis D. Scott, who will be retiring on January 5, 2015 from the Carmel Police
Department, with twenty years of service to the Carmel community as a police officer.
