Researching and reviewing proposals from web designers while developing goals and strategies. Entrepreneurial hub: Continue to meet with local businesses and experts from other communities about the potential to establish a Carmel- based hub for business start-ups. Research continues to see what it would take and how it might be operated. This will be an ongoing project. Tourist attraction: Researched and wrote materials for travel publication targeting tourists and traveling visitors across the Midwest. Destination Indiana: Met with officials at the Indiana History Center to begin process of researching and developing a new interactive feature on the history of Carmel, designed to attract attention and tourism to Carmel. Savor Indiana project: Marketing and publicizing of new videos shown on-public television and posted online: http://www.savorindiana.com/ Now working with staff to develop the related Extraordinary Indiana project: A video more focused on local corporations and history of Carmel. Pilot Talent Attraction: Continued work as city's representative on the Tactical Economic Development group in association with Invest Hamilton County. Working with corporate executives on strategies to attract talented potential employees from targeted cities. Working with American Specialty Health, Allied Solutions and a steering committee that includes Tim Monger and Christy Lugo, along with Economic Development representatives from Noblesville, Fishers, Westfield, the IEDC and Citizens Energy. This will be an ongoing project. Job openings: Continued planning on both city and regional efforts to address the need to help local businesses fill many job openings through efforts such as job fairs, targeted advertising and other methods — including social media — to help circulate the news and bring in qualified employees. This will be an ongoing project. U.S. 31: Continued to facilitate communication between city engineering and local businesses impacted by construction along U.S. 31. Working with INDOT to prepare upcoming public sessions on 2015 highway and local street construction planning. Continue to address concerns by local businesses with the goal of mitigating impact through a variety of measures. This is an ongoing project. Information requests: Assisted city staff with research and production of a variety of information and statistics requested by potential businesses, investors, business support teams, economic development agencies and the media. Major event planning: Continue to work with staff and the PGA on a proposed "Golftown" event that would take place in 2016 in conjunction with BMW Championship golf tournament to be held at Crooked Stick. New tourism initiative: Continue to work with staff on an exciting new idea to further enhance Carmel's draw for tourists from around the Midwest. Finalizing plans to present a proposal that will also benefit several local businesses directly, many others indirectly. More details to come. IUPPI Study: Continue to work with Drew Klacik and John Marron of IUPPI as they study redevelopment in Carmel for the past two decades. Major research project. - . ONGOING PROJECTS - — - - Cultural Identification project: Continued to work with staff and others on project designed to further identify various cultural and geographically unique aspects of Carmel as a way to further enhance attraction of economic development and visitors. This will be an ongoing project. Public Art: Continued to work with consultant, staff, on potential projects involving public art in Carmel. All projects discussed were designed to strategically attract visitors and economic development to Carmel. This will be an ongoing project. Google Business View: Continued working with staff on vetting a proposal by a local firm regarding an economic development tool that may help promote local businesses, local attractions and other features of Carmel. Tourism App: In the final stages of completing and launching a new App for local tourism information... continued meetings with staff; consultation and working with Bluebridge officials to fine tune and roll out a new web-based application for cell phones and tablets designed to more easily connect local restaurants, businesses and events with visitors and residents seeking updated and up-to-the-minute information as they visit Carmel. Economic Development: >>> Research and dissemination of high profile properties with potential business uses; Communication with owners and/or leasing agents, working with various city staff members to offer assistance when possible. >>> Continued efforts to work with Indy Partnership and Pedcor to supply information for a prospective business looking for land to develop commercially in Carmel. >>> Meeting with local developers and Carmel Redevelopment Commission to discuss potential projects. PLANNING AND STRATEGY Carmel Redevelopment Commission: Consultation and support for executive director Corrie Meyer on a number of initiatives to further the CRC mission of redevelopment in Carmel; including community relations, media relations, social media outreach, research and consultation. IEDC: Continue ongoing work with state officials regarding the dissemination of news about exciting local projects - including a new jobs announcements. Media and Press Conferences: Worked with city staff on a number of media requests — including correspondence and research for the Indianapolis Star, Indianapolis Business Journal, Current, Butler University journalism students, WISH-TV, Fox 59, Indianapolis Monthly, Carmel Business Leader, Image Indy.com, and communications needs from the Carmel Green Initiative and U.S. Conference of Mayors. Social Media: Continued to assist city officials with use of social media to publicize and inform residents and the public on a variety of matters. SelectUSA: Continued to work, under the direction of the Mayor, with SelectUSA on opportunities to market the city of Carmel to an international audience of investors and site selectors. SPECIAL PROJECTS Indiana Healthy Communities: Working with city officials and Indiana Chamber of Commerce representative on Carmel's assistance in rolling out a statewide "healthy communities" initiative that would use many of Carmel's attributes for good health habits as an example for other cities and towns to replicate. This will be an ongoing project. Research and writing: Under the direction of the Mayor and the Director of Community Relations and Economic Development, research was done on a variety of topics designed to provide accurate and updated facts and information to a variety of sources, all geared toward increasing economic development opportunities and showcase the city to a broader audience. City web site: Continued working to update the city's website. This is an ongoing effort. Special emphasis placed on areas of interest to outside business entities exploring options to relocate; various quality of life elements.
