RECENT PROJECTS
Economic Development / Marketing
Website redesign: Research, review, consultation with city staff in
final stages of comparing and contrasting competitive proposals to upgrade
city website and create a new economic development web page. Included
in this process: Personal meetings, web meetings, visual demonstrations
and additional research.
Entrepreneurial hub: Continue to work with city officials, private
developers and out-of-state developers of similar projects on the
establishment of one or more Carmel-based hubs for business start-ups, or
incubators. Performed site visits at two locations and researched similar
projects across the nation. This will be an ongoing project.
Village of West Clay: Met with local businessman at the business
district within the Village of West Clay. Discussion on ways the city can
help the Village create and sustain a vibrant commercial area to serve not
only residents of this development, but others who live nearby and visitors
to the city. This will be an ongoing project and the City has_vowed to help

Pilot Talent Attraction: Continue to work with local businesses and
economic development officials on a new targeted approach to attracting
top talent to Carmel and Hamilton County. Continue to serve as city's
representative on this Tactical Economic Development group in association
with Invest Hamilton County. Also continue to engage with American
Specialty Health, Allied Solutions and a steering committee that includes
Tim Monger and Christy Lugo, along with Economic Development
representatives from Noblesville, Fishers, Westfield, the IEDC and Citizens
Energy. This will be an ongoing project.
Carmel Caffeine Trail: Met with local business owners in the Arts &
Design District to begin the creation of an official "Caffeine Trail" that will
drive tourists and local residents to Carmel's many locally-owned and
operated coffee shops and tea shops. Working to get a map established
and develop marketing tools to provide visitors with one more unique
experience while they are in Carmel. This will be an ongoing project.
Carmel City Map: Working closely with city staff to finalize a project
that will include a new printed city street map.
Google Business View: Finalized plans to engage in an economic
development tool that will help promote local businesses, local attractions
and other features of Carmel.
Job openings: Continued planning on both city and regional efforts
to address the need to help local businesses fill many job openings through
efforts such as job fairs, targeted advertising and other methods — including
social media — to help circulate the news and bring in qualified employees.
This will be an ongoing project.
Major event planning: Met with staff and planners to lay the
foundation of a core group to coordinate on a City project with the PGA on
a proposed "Golftown" event that will take place in 2016 in conjunction with
BMW Championship golf tournament to be held at Crooked Stick.
Human Relations Committee: Continue to work with this committee
on planning events designed to further goals of this committee, including
the celebration of diversity in Carmel. Met with Ron Carter and Committee
Chair to discuss possible courses of action in 2015.
Information requests:
>>> Researched information and photos for private'author
researching Carmel as part of a new book he is writing on urban and
suburban planning.
>>> Helped Urban Land Institute obtain information on the Monon
-Greenway. - - ----
>>> Continued working to obtain information for IUPPI researchers
Drew Klacik and John Marron, who are studying redevelopment in Carmel.
>>> Worked with city staff on daily media requests — including
Americans for the Arts' ArtsUSA.org, Angie's List Magazine, Inside Indiana
Business, Indianapolis Star, Indianapolis Business Journal, Current in
Carmel, Butler University journalism students, WISH-8, Fox 59, WRTV-6,
WTHR-13, WTTV-4, WIBC, and others.
>>> Introductory meeting with city staff and new reporter covering
Carmel for the Indianapolis Business Journal. Meeting included a driving
tour of Carmel.

Researched and provided information requested by a senior vice
president of Huntington Bank, who was working on a special project for the
bank's expanding presence in Carmel.
Destination Indiana: Continue to research and develop project for
the Indiana History Center, a new interactive feature on the history of
Carmel, designed to attract attention and tourism to Carmel for visitors to
the History Center in downtown Indianapolis and potentially online.
Savor Indiana project: Continued marketing and publicizing of new videos
shown on public television and posted online: httr)://www.savorindiana.com/
Now working with staff to develop the related Extraordinary Indiana
project: A video more focused on local corporations and history of Carmel.
This will be an ongoing project.
ONGOING PROJECTS
Cultural Identification project: Continued to work with staff and
others on project designed to further identify various cultural and
geographically unique aspects of Carmel as a way to further enhance
attraction of economic development and visitors. This will be an ongoing
project.
Public Art: Continued to work with consultant, staff, on potential
projects involving public art in Carmel. All projects discussed were
designed to strategically attract visitors and economic development to
Carmel. This will be an ongoing project.
Tourism App: Finalized the future launch of a new App for local
tourism information. Worked with staff and Bluebridge officials to fine tune
and roll out the new web-based application for cell phones and tablets
designed to more easily connect local restaurants, businesses and events
with visitors-and residents seeking updated and up-to-the-minute - -
information as they visit Carmel.
Development and Redevelopment:
>>> Research and exploration of new data sources available to
Carmel. Meeting and demonstration held to explore the possibilities of
having updated information whenever needed and in ways we can provide
particularly commercial real estate and development
services to the public, pa y p
officials wanting to bring investment to Carmel.
>>> Ongoing research and dissemination of high profile properties
with potential business uses; Communication with owners and/or leasing
agents, workingwith various cit staff members to offer assistance when

possible.
>>> Continued efforts to work with Indy Partnership, the IEDC and
local developers to supply information for a prospective business looking
for land to develop commercially in Carmel.
>>> Worked closely with Corrie Meyer, executive director of the
Carmel Redevelopment Commission, on a variety or projects to further the
CRC mission of redevelopment in Carmel; including community relations,
media relations, social media outreach, research and consultation.
Media and Press Conferences:
Worked with city staff on several press releases and a press
conference. Also wrote a story contributed to the Current on coffee shop
experiences in Carmel as a way to emphasize local businesses.
Social Media: Continued to assist city officials with use of social
media to publicize and inform residents and the public on a variety of
matters.
City web site: Continued working to update the city's website. This is
an ongoing effort. Special emphasis placed on areas of interest to outside
business entities exploring options to relocate; various quality of life
elements.
