Hancock MAYOR June 8, 1988 Mr. Beau Wilfong Hamilton Western Utilities, Inc. 1350 Greyhound Court Carmel, Indiana 46032 RE: Water Service and Connection Dear Mr. Wilfong: Thank you for meeting with our representative and indicating a willingness to sell water to the City of Carmel. This letter is intended to formalize our understanding in writing and request your permission to make the connection including the installation of our pipe on your property between your main and the street right of way. In detail it is our understanding that: 1. Hamilton -Western will sell to the City of Carmel up to 600 gallons per minute on an as needed basis ; 2. The City of Carmel will have constructed a 6 -inch connection to the 16 -inch Hamilton -Western Utilities main located approximately 40 feet north of the 146th Street centerline at the intersection with Jason Street: 3. The City of Carmel will construct a 6 -inch main from the connection, south along the east side of Jason Street; 4. The City of Carmel will construct a meter pit, with two gate valves, one check valve, and a 4 -inch meter in the line; 5. Hamilton -Western Utilities will monitor the level of water in their elevated tank and if necessary to protect their customers, have the right to reduce the rate of flow to the City of Carmel if their storage level is in danger of emptying; 40 EAST MAIN STREET CARMEL, INDIANA 46032 317/844-6433 6. Main Street Carmel, Indiana 46032 Re: Interconnection with Hamilton -Western Utilities Dear Dottie: Enclosed is a copy of the letter of understanding with Hamilton Western Utilities signed by Mr. Wilfong June 17th. On behalf of the City of Carmel, we requested quotations from contractors for installation of the main. Three quotations were received. The quotations were: Eagle Valley Construction Corp. - $ 19,674.29 Bowen Engineering - $ 19,750.00 Central Engineering & Const. Corp. - $ 19,918.00 After review with Mr. Dougherty we have contacted Eagle Valley Construction Corp. and advised them we would like the work done next week. They have confirmed it will take 1-2 days to get the pipe and three days to install. I have contacted Mr. Wright again to request a letter confirming the City's permission to install the main and that easements will be included in the final plat. He has committed to doing so and will send a letter as soon as possible. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has given verbal approval to make the connection and has indicated they will consider waiving test requirements on the finished line to allow it to be put on line immediately.
