pedestals, shims, and spacer tabs for joint spacing of 1/8 to 3/16 inch
2. Paver Pedestal System “Pave-El;” High density polyethylene, UV resistant paver
supports manufactured by Envirospec, Inc. P.O. Box 119; Buffalo, NY 14205;
716-689-8548
a. Paver manufacturer’s pedestal system is an acceptable substitution.
3. Paver support must meet requirements of Soprema waterproofing specified in
Section 07 52 16. Each pedestal shall be centered on an 8”x8” piece of Soprema
Flam 180 GR FR membrane material, supplied by roofing contractor.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine substrates, areas, and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with
requirements and other conditions affecting performance.
1. Verify that waterproofing membrane is completed and has been inspected and
approved by membrane manufacturer.
2. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been
corrected.
3.2 SURFACE PREPARATION
A. Clean and prepare waterproofing surface according to manufacturer's written
recommendations. Provide clean, dust-free, and dry surface.
3.3 PLAZA DECK PAVER INSTALLATION
A. Install concrete pavers and paver supports in locations indicated according to
manufacturer's written instructions.
B. Accurately install pedestals and other accessories to elevations required. Adjust for
final level and slope with shims or as otherwise provided by pedestal supports.
1. Provide a loose piece of Soprema Flam 180 GR FR, approximately 8” x 8”
square centered beneath each paver pedestal. See Section 07 52 16.
C. Loosely lay pavers on pedestals, maintaining a uniform open joint width. Tightly seat
pavers against spacers to eliminate lateral movement or drift of paving assembly. Align
joint patterns parallel in each direction.
1. Lay out pavers to avoid less-than-half-width pavers at perimeter or other
terminations.
2. Arrange pavers in a uniform grid. Do not stagger joints.
D. Install pavers to not vary more than 1/16 inch in elevation between adjacent pavers or
more than 1/16 inch from surface plane elevation of individual paver.
