CARMEL HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 10, 2016, 6:00 P.M.
CAUCUS ROOM, CARMEL CITY HALL

Members: Carol Schleif, Becky Feigh, Curtis Butcher, Jennifer Hershberger, Luci Snyder

1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 6:04 P.M. led by Chairperson Carol Schleif.
2. Roll Call
Commission members Carol Schleif, Becky Feigh, Jennifer Hershberger, Luci Snyder, and
Curtis Butcher are in attendance. Commissioner advisor Nick Davis is also in attendance.
3. Approval of Minutes (1-14-16)
Jennifer Hershberger moves to approve the January 14, 2016 meeting minutes, Curtis Butcher
seconds. Motion passes (5-0).
4. Hearing of Visitors
None

No discussion
6. Report on Staff Approvals
No discussion
7. Financial Report — Luci
No discussion
8. Old Business
a. Fapade Grant Program
i. Information about the fagade grant program is available on the Commissions'
website. Details about the grant program were submitted to the Current. The
commission will try to have a presentation in front of the Chamber. Will send the
details about fagade grant to additional parties.
b. Strategies for Designation
Follow up to last meeting's conversation on potential sites to locally designation.
Staff researched contacts of potential districts within Carmel. Staff will reach out to
those potential districts that contact information is available. Consensus is the
commission needs to develop an outreach strategy, to increase awareness of the
Commission and its activities.
c. Certified Local Government Application Update
Staff reports the Certified Local Government application was submitted at the end
of January. The state is still reviewing the application but should have a response
within two weeks.
d. Hull House
No update at this time, the property is still for sale.
9. New Business
a. Preservation Month
The Commission should hold a program in honor of Preservation Month. Staff will
develop some ideas. One idea suggested was the Commission could partner with the
Historical Society for a walking tour.
b. Preserving Historic Places Conference in Vincennes
Staff reports the Preserving Historic Places Conference will be held in Vincennes
April 27-29, 2016. There will be a Commission Assistance Training (CAMP) on
Thursday.
c. Haines House
Commission will reach out to Fritz Herget at Arsee Engineering to determine if the
Haines House is structurally capable of moving.
10. Announcements
Save the date - June 4"' is Indiana Landmarks Mid -Century Modern Home Tour in Eden Glen
in Carmel.
