To Whom It May Concern,
Docket Number: 16070010 V
I am writing in regard to the variance being considered for the sign at the most recent gas
station and convenience store being built along 146th Street. This complex is located at 146th
Street and Gray Road.
The gas station and convenience store were approved and expedited by the use of a zoning
variance against the well known and strong opposition of the residents of Carmel and
Westfield. I understand that Carmel needs the tax revenues generated by the gas station to
help manage their debt and to continue their spending, and I also understand that the
residents of Carmel are no more than cash cows to the city.
That being said, it would show just a wee bit of respect to the residents to not have a towering
sign that says: "Get Go", also shoved down our throats. The gas station and convenience
store are massive and the thousands of people driving along 146th street will not miss the
huge building or the towering canopy over the pumps. Many transients will frequent the gas
station and convenience store to generate plenty of tax dollars for the City of Carmel, not to
worry.
In addition, there is a historic church and cemetery across the street from the gas station and
convenience store. The church was also disregarded, along with the rest of the community,
when approval for the gas station was rammed through. Now, to add insult to injury, this
landmark church will have to look at a large protruding sign that says, "Get Go"?
Please, do not increase the size of the sign.
