If existing structure varies from configuration, sizes, etc. from drawings, notify engineer of record immediately.ES4.The source of existing structure indicated is drawings from McComas Engineering, dated 6/11/07.STRUCTURAL STEEL NOTESSS1.All structural steel shall conform to the following:W ShapesASTM A992, Grade 50.Angles, Channels, Plates, BarsASTM A36 (Fy=36 ksi)HSS TubesASTM A500, Grade B (Fy=46 ksi)HSS PipesASTM A500, Grade B (Fy=42 ksi)Anchor RodsASTM F1554, Grade 36SS2.All steel shall be detailed, fabricated and erected in accordance with:AISC 360 "Specification for Structural Steel Buildings", Allowable Strength Design (ASD)AISC 303 "Code of Standard Practice"SS3.If beam reaction is not indicated, design connection for minimum 10 k reaction.SS4All bolted connections shall be made with 3/4" diameter, A325 bolts with nuts and washers, unlessotherwise noted. All connections shall be shear bearing connections tightened to snug-tight condition, unless otherwise noted.SS5.All shop and field welds shall be made using E70 electrodes or equivalent.SS6.All headed concrete anchors shall be ASTM A108 (Fy=50 ksi), 3/4" diameter x 4" after welding, unlessnoted otherwise.SS7.Steel fabricator shall obtain the size and location of all openings for grilles, louvers, etc. beforeproceeding with the fabrication and erection of any required frames.SS8.Provide Heckman #129 and #130 channel slot and channel slot anchors at all columns that abutmasonry walls, unless noted.SS9.Provide temporary bracing of the structure until all permanent lateral support is in place.SS10. Structure Stability: The entire roof and/or floor decking materials must be fully erected and connected tothe supporting steel before temporary, erection bracing is removed.SS11.RD = Roof Drain location. Provide steel frame for drains. See other drawings for actual drain type, number, size, etc. Coordinate with drain contractor.GENERAL NOTESG1.BUILDING CODES:Model Code:International Building Code 2012Local Code:Indiana Building Code 2014Model Code Standard:ASCE 7-10Steel Standard:AISC 360-10, ASD 14th EditionSteel Seismic Standard:AISC 341-10Concrete Standard:ACI 318-11Masonry Standard:ACI 530-11, ASDWood Standard:ANSI/AWC NDS-2012, AWC SDPWS-2008Risk Category:II, Normal RiskExposure Category:C, Open terrainG2.FLOOR DESIGN LOADS:LocationDeadLive2nd Floor70psf80psfStair100psfG3.SNOW DESIGN CRITERIAGround Snow Load:20 psfMinimum Roof Snow Load:20 psfSloped Roof Snow Load:14psfImportance Factor:1.0Exposure Factor:1.0 Partially ExposedThermal Factor:1.0 Heated StructureG4.WIND DESIGN CRITERIAWind Speed:115 mphASD Wind Speed:90 mphEnclosure Classification:EnclosedGust Factor:0.85Internal Pressure Coef.:0.18G5.SEISMIC DESIGN CRITERIAImportance Factor:1Mapped Spectral Response, Ss:0.146Mapped Spectral Response, S1:0.081Site Class:DDesign Spectral Response, Sds:0.156Design Spectral Response, Sd1:0.130Seismic Design Category, SDC:BOverstrength Factor, Omega:3Seismic Response Coef., Cs:5.2Response Modification R:3Unfactored Base Shear, V:5.2% WAnalysis Procedure:Equivalent Lateral Force AnalysisBasic SFRS:Steel System Not Specifically Detailed For Seismic ResistanceG6.Reactions and forces indicated are unfactored, Allowable Strength Design (ASD) loads.G7.If Drawings and specifications are in conflict, the most stringent restrictions and requirements shallgovern. Contractor shall bring all discrepancies to the attention of the engineer immediately.G8.Verify all existing conditions prior to any construction or fabrication. If different than shown, notifyengineer/architect immediately for modification of drawings.G9.All contractors are required to coordinate their work with all disciplines to avoid conflicts. The architectural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing aspects are not in the scope of these drawings. Therefore, allrequired materials and work may not be indicated. It is the contractor's responsibility to coordinate thesedrawings with all other construction documents. Refer to architectural drawings for all dimensions notshown on these drawings. Locations, sizes and numbers of all openings may not be completely indicatedin the structural drawings. The respective contractor shall verify their work with all other disciplines.G10.The contract documents represent the structure only. They do not indicate the method of construction. The contractor shall provide all measures necessary to protect the structure during construction. Suchmeasures shall include, but not limited to, bracing, shoring, underpinning, etc. the Engineer of Record isnot responsible for the contractor's means, methods, techniques, sequences or safety procedures duringconstruction.G11.Notes and details shall take precedence over general structural notes. Where no details or sections areshown, construction shall conform to similar work on the project.
