D-2347-17 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 4, SECTION 2-114 OF THE CARMEL CITY CODE Synopsis: Eliminates the Parks Department petty cash fund. WHEREAS, Indiana Code § 36-1-8-3 authorizes petty cash funds for departments within the City of Carmel (the "City"); WHEREAS, there is currently established a $300 petty cash fund for the Parks Department; WHEREAS, the Parks Department respectfully requests that its petty cash fund be eliminated, due to the fact that it has not been used for almost ten years; and WHEREAS, the Common Council has now determined that it is in the public interest to eliminate the Parks Department petty cash fund. NOW, THEREFORE, the Common Council ordains and states as follows: Section 1. The foregoing Recitals are fully incorporated herein by this reference. Section 2. The Parks Department petty cash fund is hereby eliminated. The following language from Carmel City Code Chapter 2, Article 4, Section 2-114(a) is hereby repealed: "Parks Department: Petty cash: up to $300.00." Section 3. The Parks Department shall return the money from its petty cash fund to the Office of the Clerk -Treasurer. Section 4. All prior ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with any provision of this Ordinance are hereby repealed as of the effective date of this Ordinance. Section 5. The remaining provisions of Carmel City Code Sections 2-114 are not affected by this Ordinance and shall remain in full force and effect. Section 6. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and signing by the Mayor and such publication as is required by law.
