Dear Mr. Kiphart:
Pursuant to our meeting before the TAC Committee, on
behalf of Shell Oil Company,I we wish to give the following
t
commitments and assurances o the City of Carmel and the
Board of Zoning Appeals:
1. We understand that we must have a certificate of
availability of sewer and water before a building permit
will be available.
2. Shell will guarantee that no additional water will
flow onto 96th Street and if necessary, will take any additional
steps required to prevent such.
3. The exhaust pipe shown in a photograph will be
paintebrown or bronze in keeping with the other bronze tones
on the building.
4. The directional signage directing traffic to the
car wash will be a maximum of 3 square feet and will be
permanently anchored in the ground or pavement and will
be in keeping with such sign plan being filed with your
office.
5. The additional crabapple tree to be installed in
the landscaped area near the exit of the car wash building
will be approximately 6 ' high and of approximately 2" caliper.
6. The notice to the motoring public of the "Free
Wash With Fill Up" with be installed on the existing "Self-Serve"

and "Full Service" signage as per the plan being filed with
your office.
7. In the event any trees are removed in the northwest
area of this gas station, for construction of the car wash
drive, such trees will be relocated on the premises and
not destroyed.
We have previously delivered additional plans in compliance
with Mr. South ' s letter of September 21st and please let
me know of any other questions in conjunction with this
matter being heard by the Board of Zoning Appeals on Monday,
September 28, 1987.
