GENERAL NOTES
1. ALL WORK DESCRIBED WITHIN THIS SET OF DOCUMENTS SHALL BE PERFORMED TO MEET THE
REQUIREMENTS OF CODE CURRENTLY ADOPTED BY AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION. THIS SHALL
NOT BE LIMITED TO THE MECHANICAL CODE, BUT TO ALL APPLICABLE CODES SUCH AS THE BUILDING
CODE, FUEL GAS CODE, NFPA, ETC.
2. DRAWINGS ARE SCHEMATIC IN NATURE AND GRAPHICALLY REPRESENT THE INTENT OF HVAC SYSTEM
INSTALLATION. MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING A COMPLETE
AND OPERATIONAL HVAC SYSTEM TO MEET THIS INTENT WHETHER INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS
OR OTHERWISE.
3. MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH EXISTING CONDITIONS AND OTHER TRADES
BEFORE INSTALLING DUCTWORK AND EQUIPMENT. CHANGES INCURRED FROM FAILURE TO
COORDINATE WITH THESE CONDITIONS SHALL BE AT THE MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE.
4. COORDINATE EXACT LOCATION OF DIFFUSERS, GRILLES, AND REGISTERS WITH THE ARCHITECTURAL
REFLECTED CEILING PLANS, SMOKE DETECTORS, SPRINKLERS, LIGHTS, SPEAKERS, ELECTRICAL DEVICES,
ETC.
5. ALL SHEET METAL SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED BASED ON THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE SMACNA "HVAC
DUCT CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS - METAL AND FLEXIBLE" MANUAL.
6. DUCTWORK DIMENSIONS NOTED ON PLAN INDICATE INSIDE CLEAR OPENING REQUIRED.
7. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, BRANCH DUCT TO DIFFUSERS SHALL BE THE SAME SIZE AS DIFFUSER
NECK. FLEXIBLE DUCT CONNECTION TO THE DIFFUSER SHALL BE LIMITED TO NO MORE THAN 5 FEET
IN LENGTH.
8. PERFORM A COMPLETE AIRFLOW BALANCE FOR ALL EQUIPMENT THAT IS SHOWN, SCHEDULED, OR
OTHERWISE IDENTIFIED UPON COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION. WHERE NEW CFM VALUES ARE NOT
INDICATED, SYSTEM SHALL BE BALANCED TO MATCH PREVIOUS VALUES.
# CODED NOTES:
1. EXISTING RTU TO REMAIN AS IS. FIELD VERIFY UNIT IS IN PROPER WORKINGS ORDER. RE-BALANCE
OUTDOOR AIR CFM TO QUANTITIES LISTED ON THE VENTILATION SCHEDULE.
2. DEMOLISH EXISTING DUCTWORK, DIFFUSERS, AND GRILLES THROUGHOUT THE TENANT SPACE
WITH THE EXCEPTION OF DUCTWORK NOTED AS 'E' WHICH IS EXISTING TO REMAIN.
3. EXISTING RESTROOM EXHAUST SYSTEM INCLUDING FAN ON ROOF TO REMAIN AS IS.
4. EXISTING DIFFUSER/GRILLE DENOTED AS 'E' TO REMAIN AS IS.
5. EXISTING DISHWASHER HOOD AND ASSOCIATED EXHAUST DUCTWORK AND FAN TO REMAIN AS IS.
VERIFY SYSTEM IS IN PROPER WORKING ORDER.
6. EXISTING TYPE 1 HOOD AND ASSOCIATED 14/10 EXHAUST DUCTWORK AND FAN TO REMAIN AS IS.
VERIFY SYSTEM IS IN PROPER WORKING ORDER. PROVIDE A MINIMUM OF 1 LAYER OF FIRE WRAP AS
SPECIFIED AROUND EXISTING DUCTWORK.
7. EXISTING HOOD TO BE DEMOLISHED. DEMOLISH ASSOCIATED EXHAUST DUCTWORK BACK TO
EXHAUST DUCT MAIN AND CAP WITH WELDED SECTION.
8. DEMOLISH EXISTING SECTION OF MAKE-UP AIR DUCTWORK AND REPLACE WITH NEW DUCTWORK
AS INDICATED.
9. MOUNT REMOTE TEMPERATURE SENSOR AT 48" AFF. WIRE BACK TO THERMOSTAT IN MANAGER'S
OFFICE.
10. PROVIDE WALL MOUNTED REMOTE SMOKE ANNUNICATOR AS INDICATED ON PLANS MOUNTED AT
54" AFF. INTERLOCK WITH DUCT MOUNTED SMOKE DETECTOR INSTALLED IN THE RETURN DUCT OF
EACH RESPECTIVE RTU. UPON DETECTION OF SMOKE, RTU SHALL SHUT DOWN AND AN ALARM SHALL
BE SENT TO THE ANNUNCIATOR.
11. PROVIDE LED TOUCHSCREEN THERMOSTAT WITH PROGRAMMABLE LOCKING CONTROLS WITH 24/7
CAPABLE CONTROL AND A MINIMUM 5° DEADBAND. MOUNT AT 48" ABOVE FINISHED FLOOR.
THERMOSTAT SHALL BE PROGRAMMED TO RUN THE FAN CONTINUOUSLY WHILE THE SPACE IS
OCCUPIED, AND SHALL BE SET TO 'AUTO' MODE WHEN THE SPACE IS UNOCCUPIED. THERMOSTAT
TO BE INTERLOCKED WITH RESPECTIVE REMOTE SENSOR.
12. EXISTING TYPE 1 HOOD TO REMAIN AS IS. PROVIDE NEW DUCTWORK AND EXHAUST FAN ON ROOF
AS SHOWN. PROVIDE NEW CONTACTOR AND OVERLOAD IN HOOD CONTROL PANEL (PART #
100-KO5D10 AND PART # 193-KB25)
13. TYPE 1 KITCHEN EXHAUST DUCT TO BE WELDED AND FIRE-WRAPPED AND SLOPED AT 1/8" PER
FOOT TOWARDS HOOD. DUCTWORK TO BE A MINIMUM 16 GAUGE CARBON STEEL WITH
CONTINUOUSLY WELDED, LIQUID TIGHT SEAMS. PROVIDE DUCT CLEANOUTS AS REQUIRED BY IMC
SECTION 506.3.8-9 AND AS NOTED IN SPECIFICATIONS. PROVIDE TWO LAYERS OF FIRE WRAP AS
SPECIFIED.
14. MOUNT GRILLE TIGHT TO UNDERSIDE OF STRUCTURE.
15. ELECTRIC INFRARED HEATERS TO BE INSTALLED BY EC AND SHOWN FOR REFERENCE ONLY.
16. CONNECT TO EXISTING DUCT DROP FROM MAKE-UP AIR UNIT ON ROOF. REPLACE EXISTING
MAKE-UP AIR UNIT MOTOR WITH NEW 2 HP MOTOR, PULLEYS, AND OVERLOAD/CONTACTOR TO
ALLOW UNIT TO OPERATE AT 2800 CFM. RE-BALANCE UNIT ACCORDINGLY.
17. BOTTOM OF EXPOSED DUCTWORK IN DINING AREA TO BE MOUNTED AT 13'-0" AND TO BE
INTERNALLY LINED WITH 1" THICK TOUGHGARD ULTRA ROUND SPIRAL DUCT LINER.
