SERVICE ENTRANCE.
G. INSTALL WALL PENETRATION SYSTEM AT EACH SERVICE PIPE PENETRATION THROUGH
EXTERIOR WALL. MAKE INSTALLATION WATERTIGHT.
3.2 PIPING JOINT CONSTRUCTION
A. THREADED JOINTS: THREAD PIPE WITH TAPERED PIPE THREADS COMPLYING WITH
ASME B1.20.1.
B. WELDED JOINTS: CONSTRUCT JOINTS ACCORDING TO AWS D10.12M/D10.12, USING
QUALIFIED PROCESSES AND WELDING OPERATORS.
C. JOINTS IN STEEL PIPING WITH PROTECTIVE COATING: APPLY JOINT COVER KITS TO PIPE AFTER
JOINING TO COVER, SEAL, AND PROTECT JOINTS.
D. FLANGED JOINTS: INSTALL GASKET MATERIAL, SIZE, TYPE, AND THICKNESS APPROPRIATE FOR
NATURAL-GAS SERVICE. INSTALL GASKET CONCENTRICALLY POSITIONED.
3.3 VALVE INSTALLATION
A. INSTALL MANUAL GAS SHUTOFF VALVE FOR EACH GAS APPLIANCE AHEAD OF CORRUGATED
STAINLESS-STEEL TUBING, ALUMINUM, OR COPPER CONNECTOR.
B. INSTALL REGULATORS AND OVERPRESSURE PROTECTION DEVICES WITH MAINTENANCE
ACCESS SPACE ADEQUATE FOR SERVICING AND TESTING.
3.4 OUTDOOR PIPING SCHEDULE
A. ABOVEGROUND NATURAL-GAS PIPING SHALL BE THE FOLLOWING:
1. STEEL PIPE WITH MALLEABLE-IRON FITTINGS AND THREADED JOINTS. COAT PIPE AND
FITTINGS WITH PROTECTIVE COATING FOR STEEL PIPING.
2. STEEL PIPING TO BE PROVIDED WITH ONE COAT OF PRIMER AND TWO COATS OF
WEATHER RESISTANT FINISH PAINT. FINISH COLOR TO BE YELLOW, UNLESS ANOTHER
COLOR IS REQUIRED BY THE GAS UTILITY PROVIDER AND/OR REVIEW, INSPECTION AND
APPROVAL AUTHORITIES.

TIE ROD APPLICATIONS, AND JOINT TYPES AND INTERVALS.
2.2 ACCESSORIES
A. VOLUME-CONTROL DAMPERS: FACTORY FABRICATED VOLUME CONTROL DAMPERS,
COMPLETE WITH REQUIRED HARDWARE AND ACCESSORIES. SINGLE BLADE AND MULTIPLE
OPPOSED BLADE, STANDARD LEAKAGE RATING, AND SUITABLE FOR HORIZONTAL OR
VERTICAL APPLICATIONS.
B. FLEXIBLE CONNECTORS: FLAME RETARDANT OR NONCOMBUSTIBLE FABRICS, COATINGS, AND

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
A. DUCT SYSTEM PRESSURE CLASS: CONSTRUCT AND INSTALL EACH DUCT SYSTEM WITH 2 INCH
POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE DUCT PRESSURE CLASSIFICATIONS.
B. CONCEAL DUCTS FROM VIEW IN FINISHED AND OCCUPIED SPACES. EXCEPT WHERE NOTED
AS EXPOSED.
C. AVOID PASSING THROUGH ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT SPACES AND ENCLOSURES.
D. SUPPORT AND CONNECT METAL DUCTS ACCORDING TO SMACNA'S "HVAC DUCT
CONSTRUCTION STANDARD".
E. INSTALL DUCT ACCESSORIES ACCORDING TO APPLICABLE PORTIONS OF DETAILS OF
CONSTRUCTION AS SHOWN IN SMACNA STANDARDS.
F. INSTALL INSULATION IN ALL DUCTWORK THAT IS NOT EXPOSED.
G. PROVIDE SADDLE TAPS AT TEES FOR EXPOSED DUCTWORK.
3.2 TESTING, ADJUSTING, AND BALANCING
A. THE OWNER SHALL SUPPLY AN INDEPENDENT BALANCE AGENT TO TO BALANCE AND ADJUST
THE HVAC INSTALLATION THE BALANCE AGENT WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PULLEY OR
BELT CHANGES REQUIRED.
B. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS TO HAVE TRAINED STAFF AVAILABLE DURING THE BALANCING
TO CORRECT ISSUES NOTED BY THE BALANCE AGENT.
C. THE BALANCE AGENT IS TO BALANCE AIRFLOW WITHIN DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS, INCLUDING
SUBMAINS, BRANCHES, AND TERMINALS TO INDICATED QUANTITIES +/- 10%. THE HOOD
EXHAUST SYSTEM SHALL BE BALANCED TO A TOLERANCE OF -0+10% AND THE MAKE-UP AIR
SYSTEM TO A TOLERANCE OF -10+0%.
D. THE BALANCE AGENT IS TO SUPPLY A COPY OF THE BALANCE REPORT TO THE OWNER,
ENGINEER AND GENERAL CONTRACTOR FOR REVIEW.

THE PIZZA OVEN EXHAUST FAN SHALL BE INTERLOCKED WITH TEH PIZZA OVEN OPERATION AND
SHALL BE ENABLED WHEN THE PIZZA OVEN IS IN USE.
C. EXHAUST FAN (EF-3 & 4)
EXHAUST FAN SHALL RUN WHEN THE BUILDING IS OCCUPIED.
E. MAKE UP AIR UNIT (MAU-1)
THE MAKE UP AIR UNIT SHALL BE ENABLED WHEN THE KITCHEN HOOD EXHAUST FANS (EF-1 AND EF-2)
ARE ENERGIZED. THE INTERNAL MOTORIZED DAMPER WITHIN WITH MAU-1 SHALL OPEN AND THE FAN
SHALL RUN. IF OA IS LESS THAN 55° (ADJ.), THE MAU-1 GAS-FIRED HEAT SECTION SHALL BE ENABLED
TO MAINTAIN A MINIMUM OF 55°.
WHEN EF-1 AND EF-2 ARE OFF, MAU-1 SHALL BE DE-ENERGIZED AND THE INTERNAL MOTORIZED
DAMPER SHALL CLOSE.
