THE FOLLOWING GENERAL NOTES ARE APPLICABLE THROUGHOUT THESE
CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS.
A. NOTHING SET FORTH IN THESE DRAWINGS SHALL RELEASE THE
CONTRACTOR FROM ITS RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE APPROPRIATE
QUANTITIES, FIELD MEASUREMENTS, DIMENSIONAL STABILITY,
INSTALLATION, ANCHORAGE, AND COORDINATION WITH ALL OTHER
SUBCONTRACTORS AND TRADES, OR RELEASE THE CONTRACTOR OF
RESPONSIBILITY TO IDENTIFY AND RESOLVE DEVIATIONS FROM THE
REQUIREMENTS OF THESE DOCUMENTS, OR RELEASE THE
CONTRACTOR OF RESPONSIBILITY TO ALERT THE ARCHITECT TO
ERRORS OR OMISSIONS CONTAINED THEREIN.
B. THE CONTRACTOR AND ALL ITS SUBCONTRACTORS SHALL VERIFY IN
THE FIELD ALL NEW AND EXISTING APPLICABLE CONDITIONS,
DIMENSIONS, RELATIONSHIPS, ETC. SHOWN IN THESE DRAWINGS AND
AS PERTINENT TO THE INTENT OF THESE DRAWINGS. ANY
DISCREPANCY DISCOVERED SHALL BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION
OF THE ARCHITECT PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF ANY WORK
AFFECTED BY, OR RELATED TO, SUCH DISCREPANCY. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED
WITH, OR CAUSED BY, ITS FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS
REQUIREMENT.
C. ALL FLOOR PLAN DIMENSIONS SHOWN ON THE NEW FLOOR PLANS
ARE FROM FACE OF FINISHED WALL (WHETHER NEW OR EXISTING
WALL) UNLESS INDICATED OTHERWISE BY THE DESIGNATIONS "CLR",
"CLEAR", OR "MIN." COORDINATE WITH APPLICABLE NEW WALL TYPES
AND WITH APPLICABLE SECTIONS/DETAILS.
D. ALL NEW HOLLOW METAL (HM). DOOR FRAMES ARE LOCATED 4" FROM
THE ADJACENT WALL FACE (TO OUTER EDGE OF FRAME) UNLESS
DIMENSIONED OR DETAILED OTHERWISE.
E. COORDINATE, PROVIDE, AND INSTALL 2X FIRE TREATED WOOD WALL
BLOCKING AS REQUIRED FOR THE ANCHORAGE AND SUPPORT OF ALL
NEW CASEWORK, TRIM, FIRE EXTINGUISHER CABINETS, TOILET
ACCESSORIES, MARKER BOARDS, TACK BOARDS, DOOR HARDWARE
ACCESSORIES, ETC., AS APPLICABLE.
F. ALL NEW OR EXISTING FLOOR AREAS THAT REQUIRE LEVELING WITH
A CONCRETE TOPPING OR LEVELING COMPOUND SHALL BE
INSTALLED SUCH THAT THE FLATNESS EQUALS 35/24 (ON ALL SLABS)
AND THE LEVELNESS EQUALS (SLAB ON GRADE) AND 80% OF THAT
VALUE ON ELEVATED SLABS.
G. AT ALL AREAS WHERE EXISTING FLOOR COVERING OR WALL
COVERING MATERIAL WAS REMOVED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
PROPERLY PREPARE THE SURFACE TO RECEIVE NEW FINISHES.
H. CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE THAT ANY AND ALL BACKBOXES
LOCATED WITHIN 'PARTY WALLS' THAT SEPARATE ROOMS ARE NOT
LOCATED BACK TO BACK OR IN THE SAME CAVITY. STAGGER BOXES
ONE STUD CAVITY EITHER SIDE OF ONE ANOTHER.
I. PATCH ALL EXISTING WALLS AT LOCATIONS OF NEW OR REMOVED
MEP WORK.
GENERAL CEILING PLAN NOTES
THE FOLLOWING GENERAL NOTES ARE APPLICABLE THROUGHOUT
THESE CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS.
A. ACOUSTIC PANEL CEILING SYSTEMS ARE CENTERED IN ROOMS
UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
B. COMPLY WITH ASTM C 636, ASTM E 580, AND SEISMIC DESIGN
REQUIREMENTS INDICATED, PER MANUFACTURER'S WRITTEN
INSTRUCTIONS AND CISCA'S "CEILING SYSTEMS HANDBOOK."
C. MEASURE EACH CEILING AREA AND ESTABLISH LAYOUT OF
ACOUSTICAL PANELS TO BALANCE BORDER WIDTHS AT OPPOSITE
EDGES OF EACH CEILING. AVOID USING LESS-THAN-HALF-WIDTH
PANELS AT BORDERS.
D. SUSPEND CEILING HANGERS FROM BUILDING'S STRUCTURAL
MEMBERS, PLUMB AND FREE FROM CONTACT WITH INSULATION OR
OTHER OBJECTS WITHIN CEILING PLENUM. SPLAY HANGERS ONLY
WHERE REQUIRED AND, IF PERMITTED WITH FIRE-RESISTANCE-
RATED CEILINGS, TO MISS OBSTRUCTIONS; OFFSET RESULTING
HORIZONTAL FORCES BY BRACING, COUNTERSPLAYING, OR OTHER
EQUALLY EFFECTIVE MEANS. WHERE WIDTH OF DUCTS AND OTHER
CONSTRUCTION WITHIN CEILING PLENUM PRODUCES HANGER
SPACINGS THAT INTERFERE WITH LOCATION OF HANGERS, USE
TRAPEZES OR EQUIVALENT DEVICES. WHEN STEEL FRAMING DOES
NOT PERMIT INSTALLATION OF HANGER WIRES AT SPACING
REQUIRED, INSTALL CARRYING CHANNELS OR OTHER
SUPPLEMENTAL SUPPORT FOR ATTACHMENT OF HANGER WIRES.
E. DO NOT SUPPORT CEILINGS DIRECTLY FROM PERMANENT METAL
FORMS OR FLOOR DECK; ANCHOR INTO CONCRETE SLABS.
F. DO NOT ATTACH HANGERS TO STEEL DECK TABS OR TO STEEL ROOF
DECK.
G. INSTALL EDGE MOLDINGS AND TRIM OF TYPE INDICATED AT
PERIMETER OF ACOUSTICAL CEILING AREA AND WHERE NECESSARY
TO CONCEAL EDGES OF ACOUSTICAL PANELS. SCREW ATTACH
MOLDINGS TO SUBSTRATE AT INTERVALS NOT MORE THAN 16
INCHES (400 MM) O.C. AND NOT MORE THAN 3 INCHES (75 MM) FROM
ENDS, LEVELING WITH CEILING SUSPENSION SYSTEM TO A
TOLERANCE OF 1/8 INCH IN 12 FEET (3.2 MM IN 3.6 M). MITER
CORNERS ACCURATELY AND CONNECT SECURELY.
H. INSTALL SUSPENSION SYSTEM RUNNERS SO THEY ARE SQUARE AND
SECURELY INTERLOCKED WITH ONE ANOTHER. REMOVE AND
REPLACE DENTED, BENT, OR KINKED MEMBERS.
I. GYPSUM BOARD FINISH LEVELS: FINISH PANELS TO LEVELS
INDICATED BELOW AND ACCORDING TO ASTM C 840: LEVEL 4: AT
PANEL SURFACES THAT WILL BE EXPOSED TO VIEW UNLESS
OTHERWISE INDICATED. REFER TO INTERIOR FINISH DRAWINGS FOR
GYPSUM BOARD BULKHEAD FINISH DETAILS.
J. REFER TO ELECTRICAL PLAN AND PLUMBING PLAN FOR GENERAL
NOTES.
K. ALL LAY-IN ACOUSTICAL CEILING TILE SHALL BE INSTALLED TO MATCH
THE EXISTING ACOUSTIC PANEL CEILING AND GYP. BD. CEILINGS
UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
GENERAL DEMOLITION NOTES
THE FOLLOWING GENERAL NOTES ARE APPLICABLE THROUGHOUT
THESE CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS.
DEFINITIONS
• REMOVE: DETACH ITEMS FROM EXISTING CONSTRUCTION AND
LEGALLY DISPOSE OF THEM OFF-SITE UNLESS INDICATED TO BE
REMOVED AND SALVAGED OR REMOVED AND REINSTALLED.
• REMOVE AND SALVAGE: CAREFULLY DETACH FROM EXISTING
CONSTRUCTION, IN A MANNER TO PREVENT DAMAGE, AND DELIVER
TO OWNER READY FOR REUSE.
• REMOVE AND REINSTALL: DETACH ITEMS FROM EXISTING
CONSTRUCTION, PREPARE FOR REUSE, AND REINSTALL WHERE
INDICATED.
• EXISTING TO REMAIN: EXISTING ITEMS OF CONSTRUCTION THAT
ARE NOT TO BE PERMANENTLY REMOVED AND THAT ARE NOT
OTHERWISE INDICATED TO BE REMOVED, REMOVED AND
SALVAGED, OR REMOVED AND REINSTALLED.
A. CONDITIONS EXISTING AT TIME OF INSPECTION FOR BIDDING
PURPOSE WILL BE MAINTAINED BY OWNER AS FAR AS PRACTICAL.
B. NOTIFY ARCHITECT OF DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN EXISTING
CONDITIONS AND DRAWINGS BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH
SELECTIVE DEMOLITION.
C. STORAGE OR SALE OF REMOVED ITEMS OR MATERIALS ON-SITE IS
NOT PERMITTED.
D. UTILITY SERVICE: MAINTAIN EXISTING UTILITIES INDICATED TO
REMAIN IN SERVICE AND PROTECT THEM AGAINST DAMAGE DURING
SELECTIVE DEMOLITION OPERATIONS.
E. MAINTAIN FIRE-PROTECTION FACILITIES IN SERVICE DURING
SELECTIVE DEMOLITION OPERATIONS.
F. DEMOLISH AND REMOVE EXISTING CONSTRUCTION ONLY TO THE
EXTENT REQUIRED BY NEW CONSTRUCTION AND AS INDICATED.
USE METHODS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE WORK WITHIN
LIMITATIONS OF GOVERNING REGULATIONS AND AS INDICATED IN
DIVISION 2 SECTION "SELECTIVE STRUCTURE DEMOLITION".
G. REMOVED AND SALVAGED ITEMS: CLEAN SALVAGED ITEMS AND
TRANSPORT ITEMS TO STORAGE AREA DESIGNATED BY OWNER.
H. REMOVED AND REINSTALLED ITEMS: CLEAN AND REPAIR ITEMS TO
FUNCTIONAL CONDITION ADEQUATE FOR INTENDED REUSE. PACK
OR CRATE ITEMS AFTER CLEANING AND REPAIRING. IDENTIFY
CONTENTS OF CONTAINERS. PROTECT ITEMS FROM DAMAGE
DURING TRANSPORT AND STORAGE. REINSTALL ITEMS IN
LOCATIONS INDICATED. COMPLY WITH INSTALLATION
REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT. PROVIDE
CONNECTIONS, SUPPORTS, AND MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS
NECESSARY TO MAKE ITEM FUNCTIONAL FOR USE INDICATED.
I. EXISTING ITEMS TO REMAIN: PROTECT CONSTRUCTION INDICATED
TO REMAIN AGAINST DAMAGE AND SOILING DURING SELECTIVE
DEMOLITION. WHEN PERMITTED BY ARCHITECT, ITEMS MAY BE
REMOVED TO A SUITABLE, PROTECTED STORAGE LOCATION
DURING SELECTIVE DEMOLITION AND CLEANED AND REINSTALLED
IN THEIR ORIGINAL LOCATIONS AFTER SELECTIVE DEMOLITION
OPERATIONS ARE COMPLETE.
J. DISPOSAL OF DEMOLISHED MATERIALS: EXCEPT FOR ITEMS OR
MATERIALS INDICATED TO BE REUSED, SALVAGED, REINSTALLED,
OR OTHERWISE INDICATED TO REMAIN OWNER'S PROPERTY,
REMOVE DEMOLISHED MATERIALS FROM PROJECT SITE AND
LEGALLY DISPOSE OF THEM IN AN EPA-APPROVED LANDFILL. DO
NOT ALLOW DEMOLISHED MATERIALS TO ACCUMULATE ON-SITE.
REMOVE AND TRANSPORT DEBRIS IN A MANNER THAT WILL
PREVENT SPILLAGE ON ADJACENT SURFACES AND AREAS. COMPLY
WITH REQUIREMENTS SPECIFIED IN DIVISION 01 SECTION
"CONSTRUCTION WASTE MANAGEMENT AND DISPOSAL."
K. DO NOT BURN DEMOLISHED MATERIALS.
L. TRANSPORT DEMOLISHED MATERIALS OFF OWNER'S PROPERTY
AND LEGALLY DISPOSE OF THEM.
M. CLEAN ADJACENT STRUCTURES AND IMPROVEMENTS OF DUST,
DIRT, AND DEBRIS CAUSED BY SELECTIVE DEMOLITION
OPERATIONS. RETURN ADJACENT AREAS TO CONDITION EXISTING
BEFORE SELECTIVE DEMOLITION OPERATIONS BEGAN.
N. RELOCATE/REMOVE EXISTING ELECTRICAL DEVICES IN EXISTING
WALLS AS REQUIRED TO MATCH NEW ELECTRICAL PLANS.
O. REMOVE SIGNAGE IN SUITES WITHIN THE PROJECT SCOPE. RETURN
TO OWNER AS NEEDED.
P. REMOVE GYPSUM BOARD AS REQUIRED IN EXISTING WALLS
RECEIVING NEW ELECTRICAL, MECHANICAL, PLUMBING
FIXTURES/DEVICES.
Q. REMOVE GYPSUM BOARD, VAPOR BARRIER AND ALL DAMAGED
INSULATION ON INTERIOR FACE OF EXTERIOR WALLS AS NEEDED.
R. PROVIDE APPROPRIATE DUST PARTITION AND CONTRACTOR
ACCESS DOOR TO ISOLATE CONSTRUCTION AREA.
GENERAL CASEWORK NOTES
THE FOLLOWING GENERAL NOTES ARE APPLICABLE THROUGHOUT THESE
CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS.
A. ADA, AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT REQUIREMENTS: THE
FOLLOWING SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS SHALL BE MET, WHERE
SPECIFICALLY INDICATED ON ARCHITECTURAL PLANS AS "ADA", OR BY
GENERAL NOTE.

B. PROVIDE 2 1/2" GROMMETS IN WORKSURFACES WHERE POWER/DATA
RECEPTACLES ARE BELOW COUNTER. COORDINATE FINAL GROMMET

GENERAL PROJECT NOTES
THE FOLLOWING GENERAL NOTES ARE APPLICABLE THROUGHOUT THESE
CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS.
A. ALL WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED IN STRICT COMPLIANCE WITH ALL
APPLICABLE CODES, LAWS AND ORDINANCES.
B. EACH CONTRACTOR SHALL SCRUTINIZE ALL DRAWING SHEETS TO
DETERMINE FULL EXTENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES FOR EACH
RESPECTIVE TRADE.
C. EACH CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO REMOVE ALL CARTONS, BOXES,
MATERIALS, TRASH AND DEBRIS CAUSED BY HIS WORK FROM THE
JOB SITE DAILY.
D. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE AN APPROPRIATE
DUMPSTER LOCATION WITH THE LANDLORD.
E. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SECURING ALL
REQUIRED PERMITS AND THE PAYING OF ALL REQUIRED FEES.
F. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR JOB CLEANLINESS.
G. THE CONTRACTOR(S) IS TO PROVIDE A COMPLETE, FINISHED AND
FUNCTIONAL INSTALLATION OF ALL COMPONENTS DESCRIBED IN
THESE DRAWINGS.
H. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL LABEL ALL RATED WALLS ABOVE
CEILING.
I. ALL AREAS OF DEPICTED WORK EXIST IN A BUILDING THAT IS
CURRENTLY OCCUPIED. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE
WORK, TIME AND ACCESS WITH ST. VINCENT HEALTH AND/OR
MEDXCEL'S PROPERTY MANAGER AND STRIVE TO ENSURE THEIR
WORK IN NO WAY ADVERSELY AFFECTS THE ADJACENT OCCUPIED
SPACES.
J. THE ARCHITECT HAS MADE HIS BEST EFFORTS TO COMPLY WITH THE
AMERICAN WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA). IF ANY PORTION OF THIS
WORK IS FOUND TO BE IN CONFLICT WITH ADA COMPLIANCE, THE
ARCHITECT SHALL BE NOTIFIED, IN WRITING, BY THE CONTRACTOR
IMMEDIATELY.
K. WARRANT TO THE OWNER THAT ALL MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
FURNISHED AND INSTALLED UNDER THIS CONTRACT SHALL BE NEW.
UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, AND THAT ALL WORK SHALL
BE OF GOOD QUALITY, FREE FROM DEFECTS AND FAULTS, AND
CONFORMS TO THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.
L. ALL MECHANICAL, PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL WORK SHALL BE IN
ACCORDANCE WITH ALL APPLICABLE CODES OF THE LATEST
ADOPTION.
M. VERIFY WITH TENANT AND LANDLORD ALL BUILDING STANDARD
