GENERAL PLUMBING NOTES
A. ALL WORK SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE BEST QUALITY STANDARDS OF
THE TRADE, AND SHALL CONFORM WITH ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL
CODES AND STANDARDS. THE SAME ARE MADE A PART OF THESE CONTRACT
DOCUMENTS AS IF REPEATED HEREIN.
B. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL COSTS NOT BORNE BY THE UTILITY
COMPANIES (OR DEPARTMENTS).
C. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INCLUDE IN BID PROPOSAL ALL COSTS REQUIRED TO
COMPLETELY AND PROPERLY INSTALL ALL WORK REQUIRED FOR THE PROJECT,
AND SHALL EXAMINE THE SCOPE OF WORK OF OTHER TRADES PRIOR TO
SUBMITTING A BID PROPOSAL.
D. CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS SHALL BE FOLLOWED AS CLOSELY AS POSSIBLE,
HOWEVER, SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN SHOWN DIAGRAMATICALLY AND IN SOME
CASES, ENLARGED FOR CLARITY. ANY OFFSETS, ADDITIONAL FITTINGS, AND/OR
APPURTENANCES REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A COMPLETE AND COORDINATED
SYSTEM SHALL BE BORNE BY THE CONTRACTOR.
E. THE ENGINEERING DRAWINGS ARE OF EQUAL IMPORTANCE WITH THE
ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS IN DEFINING THE WORK OF THE CONTRACT
DOCUMENTS. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO
CHECK WITH THE ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS BEFORE THE INSTALLATION OF
ENGINEERING WORK. SHOULD THERE BE A DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THE
ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS AND THE ENGINEERING DRAWINGS THAT WOULD
CAUSE AN AWKWARD OR IMPROPER INSTALLATION, THE DISCREPANCY SHALL
BE BROUGHT TO THE ARCHITECTS/ENGINEERS ATTENTION FOR CLARIFICATION
PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF SAID WORK. ANY WORK INSTALLED IN CONFLICT
WITH THE ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS SHALL BE CORRECTED BY THE
CONTRACTOR AT HIS EXPENSE AND AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO THE OWNER OR
ARCHITECT/ENGINEER.
F. DO NOT SCALE THE DRAWINGS. THE DRAWINGS ARE NOT NECESSARILY TO
SCALE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL CONDITIONS AND DIMENSIONS AT
THE JOB SITE PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION. IF DISCREPANCIES ARE

GENERAL FIRE PROTECTION NOTES
B. SPRINKLER SYSTEMS SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL AUTHORITIES HAVING
JURISDICTION (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO) INDIANA BUILDING CODE,
INDICNA PLUMBING CODE, NFPA STANDARDS 13. 13 R, 20 & 24, LOCAL FIRE
DEPARTMENT.
C. INTENT OF THESE DOCUMENTS ARE TO PROVIDE THE SPRINKLER CONTRACTOR
A BASIS OF DESIGN AND TO ASSIST IN COORDINATION OF THE SYSTEM WITH
OTHER TRADES. IT IS NOT THE INTENT OF THSES DOCUMENTS TO ALTER OF
SUPERCEDE APPLICABLE CODES OR STANDARDS.
D. THE SPRINKLER FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE
DESIGN, LAYOUT AND THE HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS OF THE PROPOSED
SPRINKLER SYSTEM(S) AS REQUIRED TO MEET CODE REQUIREMENTS.
E. INSTALL INSPECTORS TEST CONNECTIONS WITH 1-1/4" TEST DROP, BALL VALVE
AND SIGHT GLASS. TERMINATE TEST PIPING OVER NEAREST FLOOR DRAIN OR
THRU EXTERIOR WALL WHENEVER POSSIBLE
F. SPRINKLERS:
1. AREAS THAT HAVE CEILINGS SHALL HAVE CONCEALED SPRINKLERS
INSTALLED.
2. AREAS WITHOUT CEILINGS SHALL HAVE UPRIGHT, EXPOSED TYPE
SPRINKLER S INSTALLED.
3. SPRINKLERS INSTALLED IN A GARAGE AREA SHALL HAVE WIRE GUARD.
4. SPRINKLER MANUFACTURERS: TYCO, VIKING.
G. ALL AREAS THAT ARE SUBJECT TO FREEZING CONDITIONS SHALL BE PROTECTED
WITH A DRY-PIPE SPRINKLER SYSTEM.
H. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CONDUCTING HIS OWN FLOW TEST,
UPON WHICH HIS DESIGN IS TO BE BASED. A MINIMUM OF 10% DEGRADATION OF
SYSTEM PRESSURE SHALL BE ASSUMED FOR SUMMER MONTHS. THE ENTIRE
SPRINKLER SYSTEM SHALL BE HYDRAULICALLY CALCULATED.
I. HYDRAULIC PLACARDS TO BE MOUNTED ON EACH ZONE RISER.
J. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CONNECTION (FDC) SHALL BE LOCATED ON EXTERIOR
OF BUILDING. COORDINATE EXACT LOCATION WITH LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT
AUTHORITY.
K. POST INDICATOR VALVE (PIV) SHALL BE LOCATED WHERE SHOWN ON DRAWINGS,
COORDINATE FINAL LOCATION WITH SITE/CIVIL CONTRACTOR.
L. DRY-PIPE SYSTEM: AIR COMPRESSOR SHALL BE SIZED, FURNISHED AND INSTALLED
BY THE FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACTOR.
