RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF CARMEL BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY TO
AMEND THE CITY OF CARMEL'S SPECIAL EVENT/FACILITY USE POLICY
WHEREAS, the City of Carmel, Indiana ("City"), has a central purpose of preserving and
protecting the health, safety and welfare of the general public; and,
WHEREAS, the City, pursuant to Indiana Code § 36-8-2-9, has the power to regulate public
gatherings, such as shows, demonstrations, fairs, conventions, sporting events and exhibitions; and,
WHEREAS, the City's Board of Public Works and Safety (the "Board"), pursuant to Indiana
Code 36-9-6, has the duty to supervise and maintain the City's property, public streets and public
grounds; and,
WHEREAS, the Board exercises this power by requiring the organizers of events taking place on
city property, streets or grounds to obtain the approval of the Board prior to holding an event; and,
WHEREAS, the Board finds it is in the public interest to now amend its facility use policy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Carmel Board of Public Works and
Safety as follows:
Section 1. The foregoing Recitals are incorporated herein by this reference.
Section 2. The amended Special Event/Facility Use Policy, attached hereto as Exhibit A and
incorporated herein by this reference, is hereby adopted. All prior versions of the
City's Special Event/Facility Use Policy are hereby repealed.
Section 3. Funds received for the $100 refundable deposit shall be deposited into General
Fund (#101) Line Item 360010 — Miscellaneous Revenue. Funds received for the
non-refundable $150 fee shall be deposited into the Non -Reverting Events and
Festivals Fund (Fund #923).
Section 4. This Resolution is effective upon its passage.
