ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Potential corporate HQ: Worked with State of
Indiana IEDC on project to entice out of state corporate
headquarters looking to relocate to.Carmel. Met with group
of company officials for building tour and presentation of City
strengths, along with CRC Director Henry Mestetsky.
Community outreach: Met with the Mayor and a
U.S. Department of Justice official from Chicago concerning
potential cooperation with community outreach program in
the future.
Fall/Winter planning: Working with CRED staffers
and others on media and marketing plans for upcoming busy
fall festival and winter holiday season in Carmel, hoping to
maximize crowds to help support local businesses.
Driving tour: Led city-wide driving tours for potential
companies and two new city employees.
Butler University: Set up and then joined CRED's
Melanie Lentz for a meeting with Marc Allan of Butler
University to discuss potential media and marketing to the
campus as a way to engage and attract students to Carmel
this fall and winter.
Sponsorship opportunities:'Working with staff of
CRED to explore various sponsorship opportunities for
events in the City.
Transportation: Continue working with Blue Indy to
explore future opportunities for that service in Carmel.
Economic Development Study: Continue to work
with researchers at IUPPI for an extension of a
comprehensive study of Carmel's redevelopment efforts in
the city's central core. Extension will update numbers.
Developer interest: Continued to provide information
to developers from throughout the Midwest interested'in
potential new projects in Carmel.
New Corp HQ project: Continue to work with Mayor,
staff and.others on meeting the future needs of a major
corporate HQ in Carmel. This is an ongoing project.
New Corp HQ project: Working on new prospective
HQ in Carmel with Mayor, outside commercial real estate
companies and regional ED professionals and financial
consultants. This is an ongoing project.
New Grocer: Continue to provide research and
support in the continued effort by the mayor and staff to
attract a regional grocery store chain looking to possibly
expand into Carmel. This is an ongoing project.
News bureau: Working on a request by a local media
outlet seeking office space for reporters to work from Carmel
on a daily.basis. Ongoing project.
Award submissions: Worked with CRED staff to
submit nominating materials for Navigator Award.
Home Place: Working to finalize a newsletter to
outline vital city services for property owners in the recently
annexed Home Place area.
Carmel Tech Connect: Continue planning for this
new initiative, working with CRED staff and others.
Diversity issues: Continue to serve as the Mayor's
liaison to the Human Relations Advisory Commission; as
well as serving as the Mayor's representative on the Carmel
Interfaith Alliance.
Future City Visit: Worked with group of NorthWest
Indiana municipal leaders who are planning an educational
trip and tour of the City of Carmel sometime in the fall of
2018.
RIBBONS & OPENINGS: Helped plan, organize,
attend and photograph a number of ribbon cuttings and
grand openings.
MEDIA RELATIONS AND RESEARCH
Media requests: Handle media requests from a
variety of local media —too many to list this month.
Consultation on strategies for several news releases,
including ongoing road projects, the new Little Free Library
project, the city's response to recent vandalism and the 25th
anniversary,of the Gazebo concerts, among others.
Public info requests: Worked closely with staff on a
number of public information requests from media and the
community.
_ Research: Worked with the Mayor and staff on a
variety of topics at the request of local news gathering
operations and community members.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Along with the Community Relations team, continue
to produce content and oversee in general the posting of
events, stories and visuals for the City's Twitter, Facebook
and Instagram accounts.
