The system will be winterized. The system is drip irrigation, which waters from the top of the living wall, the water drips from the top pocket down, saturating the bottom of each felt pocket where the roots of the plants are. Any excess water drips back into the reservoir at the base of each side of the wall. We only use enough water to feed the plants so there is never a lot of water by the time all of the plants are watered. Automatic watering is set on a timer which is adjusted regularly depending on the weather and time of year. And we have a rain sensor that prevents watering when it rains. With regard to the gutter, that is a small piece of metal that is shaped in a V which will be placed under the plants over the door so water will not drip on to people if the happen to enter or exit Highgarden when the wall is watering. The gutter (works like one on a house, but is much smaller) is slighlty tilted so excess water filters back into the plants on either side of the storefront then down into the reservoir. Please see the attached photo to get an idea of what type of components are used for drip irrigation. Pretty much the same way you woul irrigate a horizonal garden. The example metal frame construction shows a the water going into a drain. However, we will not have a drain because we are using a reservoir to reuse excess water. Does all of this make sense? Please let me know if you have any further questions!! Thank you!! In the event of a surprise freeze, what is the potential for the irrigation system to freeze and rupture? I am anticipating it will not take the full 30, but bear with us. When we last spoke I said we could amend the ADLS to include phase 2. The owner, Carrie Holle, is not applying for new signage right now. The installation is split into 2 phases: 1) The first, includes just the wall structure and plants surrounding the storefront, under the existing sign. We can install this as soon as we get approval. 2) The 2nd phase includes new signage in the future. We provided the picture so you could get an idea of what the wall will look like with new signage. We are not applying for signage, this is just rendering for future reference. We are hope to install phase one with just the structure and plants before the weather gets too cold. I have the following comments: 1. The “Packet” document has the sign specifications laid out by Sophia Square. The maximum sign height for signage is 2 feet and the existing Highgarden logo is 2 feet tall (see “Highgarden Real Estate…” document). Therefore, all lettering would need to fit within the height of the Highgarden logo. Please revise the signage drawing to show all letters fitting within the height of the Highgarden logo. 2. There appears to be a white box around the Highgarden logo. I am not sure what that box is – if it is being incorporated into the signage or a visual aid to help see the sign on the drawing – but if it is a physical structure that will be added to the sign, it would exceed the maximum height and not be allowed. Please remove the white box to avoid any confusion. 3. I will need dimensions for the overall sign height and width. I’ve added boxes to your signage drawing showing the dimensions I would need (see “Highgarden Storefront…”). The red box is to show the overall height and width of the spandrel area. The sign cannot be more than 80% of the width of the spandrel and no more than 70% of the height. The yellow box would be the overall height and width of the sign area. As I mentioned, the sign height also cannot be more than two feet. With two conflicting height requirements, the more restrictive of the two would be applied to the storefront. Please provide dimensions on the new drawing matching the boxes I’ve added to the old. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
