Type of Footings: Column Pads
Location of Footings: B-2,B-4
The above referenced footing excavations were inspected at design elevation. A visual classification of the
soil, housel penetrometer and hand penetrometer tests were performed on the materials in the base of the
footings. Our test results indicate soil strengths at or above 2000 psf to a depth of eighteen (18) inches below
design elevation.
Type of Footings: Column Pad
Location of Footings: B-6
The above referenced footing excavations were inspected at design elevation. A visual classification of the
soil, housel penetrometer and hand penetrometer tests were performed on the materials in the base of the
footings. The test results indicate the presence of unsuitable/unstable materials. Therefore, the following
modifications were made.
Modifications
Unstable soils were removed to a depth of 18" below design bottom of footing elevation where suitable soils
were then encountered. The excavation was then re-inspected and approved for design bearing capacity of
2000 psf to a depth of eighteen (18) inches below the base of the undercut. Concrete was used to re-establish
design bottom of footing elevation.
