required, including removal of packing.
3.3 INSTALLATION
A. Install paneling level, plumb, true in line, and without distortion. Shim as required with concealed
shims. Install level and plumb to a tolerance of 1/8 inch in 96 inches.
B. Anchor paneling to supporting substrate using one of the manufacturer’s recommended
methods:
1. Point Supports: If using this installation technique, Panels should be specified to be pre-
drilled to accommodate the correct size of standoff. Six standoffs are recommended to be
used to mount a 4-foot x 8-foot panel.
2. Z-Clips: Panel material should be thick enough to accommodate screws screwed into the
back of the panel without penetrating the design on the front of the panel. It is
recommended that the z-clips run the entire width of the panel to provide support for the
entire panel. Provide 4 horizontal rows of z-clips, evenly spaced between the top and
bottom edge of the panel.
3. Construction Mastic: Construction mastic may be used, provided that the panels are
specified with a raw back instead of the standard melamine backer. The raw panel back
must be a clean, structurally sound surface. Follow the construction mastic

manufacturer’s application instructions. The entire panel must be held in place until
mastic is completely cured.
