SECTION 06 60 00 – PLASTIC FABRICATIONS
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY:
A. Types of plastic fabrications include:
1. Prefabricated Architectural Millwork: Cellular PVC and foam plastic trim.
a. Exterior Running Trim, Flat Panels.
b. Frieze, cornice, dentil, moldings, and miscellaneous shapes.
1.2 DEFINITIONS:
A. Prefabricated architectural millwork consists of molded urethane components as
specified herein and as shown on drawings.
1.3 SUBMITTALS:
A. Product Data: Submit fabricator’s technical data covering materials, fabrication
process, coating requirements, storage, handling and installation.
B. Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings showing components and configuration
delineated on drawings.
C. Samples: Submit three material samples representative of the texture, thickness and
widths shown and specified herein.
1. For cellular PVC trim, with half of exposed surface finished; 50 sq. in.
2. For foam plastic moldings, with half of exposed surface finished; 50 sq. in.
1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE:
A. Warranty:
1. Prefabricated Architectural Millwork: Manufacturer agrees to repair or replace
trim fails due to defects in manufacturing within specified warranty period.
Failures include, but is not limited to, deterioration, delamination and excessive
swelling from moisture.
a. Warranty Period: 25 years from date of Substantial Completion.
B. Single Source Responsibility for Prefabricated Architectural Millwork: Provide
components and accessories from a single manufacturer.
1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING:
A. Trim materials should be stored on a flat and level surface on a full shipping pallet.
Handle materials to prevent damage to product edges and corners. Store materials
under a protective covering to prevent jobsite dirt and residue from collecting on the
boards.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 EXTERIOR RUNNING TRIM:
A. Exterior Running Trim, and Flat Panel Azek Trimboard fabrications to be supplied by
Vycom Corporation; 801 Corey Street, Moosic, Pennsylvania 18507; (866) 549-6900
www.azek.com
1. Cellular PVC trim with a density of .55 grams per cubic centimeter.
2. Material shall meet manufacturer’s written physical and performance
characteristics.
3. Supplied without painted finish, white. Painting not necessary.
4. Material Tolerances:
a. Variation in component length: -0.00/+1.00”.
b. Variation in component width: +/- 1/16”.
c. Variation in component thickness: +/- 1/16”.
d. Variation in component edge cut: +/- 2”.
e. Variation in density: -0% +10%.
B. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance:
1. Free foam cellular PVC that is homogeneous and free from voids, holes, cracks
and foreign inclusions and other defects. Edges must be square and top and
bottom surfaces shall be flat with no convex or concave deviation.
2. Uniform surface free from cupping, warping and twisting.
C. Substitutions of equal size, scale, proportions, and construction techniques are
permitted only with prior approval of Architect
D. Running Trim Components: Location and extent shown on drawings.
1. Manufacturer: Azek Trimboards.
2. Running Trim: Azek Trimboard 5/4” x width indicated on drawings
3. Running Trim: Azek Trimboard 1” x width indicated on drawings
4. Flat Panels: 3/4” Azek Sheet maximum size (4’ x 20’)
E. Finishes: Prefinished white. Field Paint per Section 00 91 00
F. Accessories:
1. Fasteners: Stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized fasteners designed for wood
trim and siding.
2. Adhesives: AZEK adhesive.
3. Sealants: Urethane or polyurethane. Do not use silicone.
G. Cellular PVC Trim: Extruded, expanded PVC with a small-cell microstructure,
recommended by manufacturer for exterior use, made from UV- and heat-stabilized
rigid material.
1. Product: Azek.
2. Density: Not less than 31 lb./cu. ft.
3. Heat Deflection Temperature: Not less than 130 deg F, according to
ASTM D 648.

4. Coefficient of Thermal Expansion: Not more than 4.5 x 10(-5) inches/inch x
deg F.
5. Water Absorption: Not more than 1 percent, according to ASTM D 570.
6. Flame-Spread Index: 75 or less, according to ASTM E 84.
H. Foam Plastic Moldings: Molded product of shapes indicated, recommended by
manufacturer for exterior use, with a tough outer skin on exposed surfaces; factory
primed. Exposed surfaces shall not be shaped after molding.
1. Product: Azek.
2. Density: Not less than 20 lb/cu. ft.
3. Flame-Spread Index: Not more than 75 when tested according to ASTM E 84.
4. Thickness: Not more than 1/2 inch.
5. Width: Not more than 8 inches.
6. Patterns: Match Architect's samples.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION OF PREFABRICATED ARCHITECTURAL MILLWORK
A. Install per manufacturer’s published recommendations.
1. Use fasteners designed for wood trim and wood siding.
2. All fasteners must hit solid framing members.
3. Properly fastened plastic fabrication trim and molding allows for 1/8-inch
expansion per 18 feet.
B. All joints and seams between adjacent components to be smooth, hairline seams.
C. Reject all components with imperfections, damages, or other irregularities.
D. Coordinate the placement and spacing of plastic fabrications to avoid conflicts with
other work.
E. Running trim boards and corner boards (5/4-inch-thick) installed as part of the lap
siding work, shall be placed flush with wall sheathing. Fiber cement siding boards shall
be cut to butt against trim. Butt joint width to be maintained for proper sealant
application.
