Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. This Section includes: 1. Window sills manufactured from a solid-surface material consisting of solid sheets of mineral aggregate combined with plastic resins complying with ISSFA-2. 2. Countertops manufactured from a solid-surface material consisting of solid sheets of mineral aggregate combined with plastic resins complying with ISSFA-2. 1.3 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: For the following: 1. Each variety of material. Include data on physical properties required by referenced ASTM standards. B. Shop Drawings: Include plans, sections, details, and attachments to other work. C. Samples for Verification: 1. For each material type indicated, in sets of Samples not less than 12 inches square. Include two or more Samples in each set and show the full range of variations in appearance characteristics expected in completed Work. D. Qualification Data: For installer and fabricator. E. Sealant Compatibility Test Report: From sealant manufacturer, complying with requirements in Division 07 Section "Joint Sealants" and indicating that sealants will not stain or damage solid surface fabrication. F. Maintenance Data: For solid surface fabrications to include in maintenance manuals. Include Product Data for material care products used or recommended by Installer, and names, addresses, and telephone numbers of local sources for products. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Fabricator Qualifications: Shop that employs skilled workers who fabricate solid-surface fabrications like that indicated for this Project and whose products have a record of successful in-service performance. Source Limitations for Solid-Surface Materials: Obtain each variety of solid-surface material from a single source that provides materials of consistent quality in appearance and physical properties. D. Applicable Standards: 1. Standards of the following, as referenced herein: a. American National Standards Institute (ANSI). b. American society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). c. National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). d. NSF International. 2. Fire test response characteristics: a. Provide with the following Class A surface burning characteristics as determined by testing identical products per UL 723 (ASTM E 84) or another testing and inspecting agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction. b. Flame Spread Index: 25 or less. c. Smoke Developed Index: 450 or less. E. Allowable Tolerances: 1. Variation in component size: +- 1/8 inch over a 10-ft. length. 2. Maximum 1/8-inch clearance between quartz surfaces and each wall. F. Job Mock-up: 1. Prior to fabrication, if requested by Architect, erect a sample unit to further verify selections made under sample submittals and to demonstrate the quality of materials and execution. G. Pre-installation Conference: 1. Conduct conference at project site in compliance with requirements in Division 1. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Deliver no components to project site until areas are ready for installation. B. Store components indoors prior to installation. C. Handle materials to prevent damage to finished surfaces. 1. Provide protective coverings to prevent physical damage or staining following installation for duration of project. 1.6 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Field Measurements: Verify dimensions of construction to receive sills by field measurements before fabrication and indicate measurements on Shop Drawings. 1.7 WARRANTY A. Provide manufacturer's 10-year warranty against defects in materials. 1. Warranty shall provide material to repair or replace defective materials. 2. Provide maintenance requirements as specified by the manufacturer. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 SOLID-SURFACE MATERIAL A. Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide products by one of the following: 1. Corian. 2. Staron. 3. Wilsonart. B. Materials: 1. Refer to Finish Legend on Drawings. 2.2 ACCESSORIES A. General: Use only adhesives formulated and recommended by the manufacturer for the application indicated. 1. Use approved adhesive to create color-matched seam. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Examine substrates indicated to receive solid surface fabrications and conditions under which fabrications will be installed, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance. 1. For the record, prepare written report, endorsed by Installer, listing conditions detrimental to performance of installation of solid surface fabrications. 2. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. General: Install solid surface fabrications by adhering to supports and construction using manufacturer's recommended adhesive. B. Set solid surface fabrications to comply with requirements indicated on Drawings and Shop Drawings. Bond joints with adhesive and draw tight as sills are set. Mask areas of solid surface fabrications adjacent to joints to prevent adhesive smears. C. Apply sealant to joints and gaps specified for filling with sealant; comply with Division 07 Section "Joint Sealants." Remove temporary shims before applying sealant. 3.3 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING A. In-Progress Cleaning: Clean solid surface fabrications as work progresses. Remove adhesive, grout, mortar, and sealant smears immediately. B.
