SECTION 07 80 00 - IDENTIFICATION FOR FIREWALLS AND FIRE BARRIERS
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary
Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
1.2 SUMMARY
A. Section includes the following: firewall and fire barrier identification systems.
B. Related Sections:
1. Section 01 11 00 “Summary of Work.”
2. Section 09 29 00 “Gypsum Board.”
3. Section 09 91 00 “Painting.”
1.3 ACTION SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: For each type of product.
B. Shop Drawings:
1. Include plans, elevations, mounting and attachment details.
2. Include fabrication details.
3. Show sign mounting heights, locations of supplementary supports to be provided by
others, and accessories.
4. Show message list, typestyles, graphic elements and layout for each sign.
C. Samples for Initial Selection: For each type of sign.
1. Include representative Samples of available typestyles and graphic symbols.
D. Samples for Verification: For each type of sign showing all components and with the required
finish (es), in manufacturer's standard size unless otherwise indicated.
E. Sign Schedule: Use same designations specified or indicated on Drawings or in a sign
schedule.
1.4 INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS
A. Qualification Data: For Installer and manufacturer.
B. Sample Warranty: For manufacturer's warranty.

1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Refer to Specification Section 01 40 00 “Quality Requirements.”
B. Installer Qualifications: Refer to Specification Section 01 40 00 “Quality Requirements.”
1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A. Deliver, store and handle materials in accordance with Division 01.
1.8 FIELD CONDITIONS
A. Follow manufacturer’s standard written recommendations.
1.9 WARRANTY
A. Manufacturer's Warranty: Manufacturer’s standard warranty.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURERS

2.2 DESCRIPTION
A. Laminated Vinyl labels: 4 mil thick conformable, easily cleanable vinyl with glossy finish laminate
coating adhered with permanent adhesive that creates a strong bond with surface.
1. For indoor and outdoor use.
2.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine substrates areas and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with
requirements for maximum moisture content, installation tolerances and other conditions
affecting performance of the Work.
B. Prepare written report, endorsed by Installer, listing conditions detrimental to performance.
C. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
3.2 PREPARATION
A. Follow manufacturer’s written instructions for surface preparation.
3.3 INSTALLATION/APPLICATION
A. Follow manufacturer’s written instructions.
3.4 IDENTIFICATION
A. Marking and Identification of Fire Walls and Fire Barriers:
1. Fire walls and vertical fire barriers shall be effectively and permanently identified with
signs or stenciling located on visible walls and barriers in unleased commercial spaces, in
any concealed wall and barrier in accessible concealed floor, floor-ceiling or attic spaces;
be located within 15 feet of each end of each wall and at intervals not exceeding 30 feet
measured horizontally along the wall or partition and when in unleased commercial
spaces, placed 11 feet above the floor in visible and concealed areas.
2. The lettering shall not be less than 3 inches in height with a minimum 3/8 stroke in a
contrasting color incorporating the suggested wording “FIRE WALL or SMOKE BARRIER
– PROTECT ALL OPENINGS” or similar wording.

3.5 PROTECTION
A. Remove and replace signage that are wet, moisture damaged, or mold damaged.
