HomeMy WebLinkAboutInspection Information (2)YOU MUST HAVE YOUR BUILDING PERMIT NUMBER WHEN SCHEDULING AN INSPECTION. CONSTRUCTION MUST FOLLOW FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL CODES, INCLUDING: (a) Uniform Building Code (b) One and Two family Dwelling Code (c) Uniform Plumbing (d) National Electrical Code ROOM ADDITIONS FOLLOW THE SAME INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS. SWIMMING POOLS: Electrical wiring must comply with National Electrical Code, Article #68. Inspection is required before cover up. Also, all local ordinances and uniform plumbing code must be complied with. THE BUILDING PERMIT SHALL BE LOCATED IN A FRONT WINDOW FACING IN, SO INSPECTOR CAN SIGN WHEN INSPECTION IS MADE. SUMP PUMP WATER DISCHARGE OUTLETS It shall be the responsibility of the builder to provide for an adequate discharge outlet for a sump pump. o If a subsurface storm water drainage system is available (adjacent) to the building site, the sump pump shall discharge via a pipe to this system. This must be shown on the submitted site plans in detail and the connections must be inspected by the Carmel City Engineer. o If a flowing stream is available (adjacent) to the building site, the sump pump shall discharge directly to this stream. This must be shown on the site plan in detail. o If no other way exists for discharge, the sump pump pipe outlet shall be located in an area between the back wall of the house and the middle of the rear yard. In no circumstance shall the sump pump outlet be closer than twenty-five feet, zero inches (251011) to the easement of the storm water swale or to the property line. This location shall be shown on the site plan in detail. GEOTHERMAL HEAT PUMP WATER DISCHARGE OUTLET It shall be the responsibility of the builder or property owner to provide for an adequate discharge outlet for geothermal heat pumps. o It is highly recommended that a closed loop system for a geothermal heat pump be used in Carmel and Clay Township. o Injection wells are not recommended for use in Carmel and Clay Township. Special permission from the City of Carmel must be obtained if this is the only system that can be used. Contact the Water Department (846-7315) for additional information. t o If a water discharge outlet is proposed for the geothermal heat pump system, it must outlet directly by pipe into either a flowing stream, storm water system or a sub- surface storm drainage ti'le system. The connection must be inspected by the Carmel City Engineer and must be shown in detail on the site or plot plan. If the sump pump or geothermal heat pump is to discharge into a County regulated drainageway, it will need to tie directly into a subsurface tile and be approved by the County Surveyor. 1/86 DIRECTOR, CARMEL DEPT.
