Weather: Cloudy, mid 50’s
1.Earth Exploration, Inc. (EEI) was on site at the request of Bill with Gibraltar Construction to perform visual
inspection of the excavated footings and perform foundation testing. The contractor made excavations for
the bridge footings on the East and West side of building. EEI noted that excavation work was extended to
the approximate design bottom of footing elevation of -3’ below the existing grade. The footings on the East
side had to be undercut due to soft wet material. The North East footing was undercut 1’ and backfilled with
#53 stone in two 6in. lifts, compacting each. The South East footing was undercut 6in, backfilled with 1 lift
of #53 stone and compacted. The West footings appeared to be suitable for the intended design. While on
site EEI observed contractor undercut and backfill as recommended by Jeremy Clem with EEI. No further
work was performed today.
