GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
CONTRACTOR - OWNER - DOCTOR
PLEASE READ
1. The filing of registered architect's plans with the building
department shall be the responsibility of the contractor,
tentant or owner. This shall be agreed beforehand and
incorporated into the lease, such party paying all fees in-
curred.
2. The contractor shall comply with all state and city laws,
ordinances, rules and regulations pertaining to the const-
ruction of this office. He shall also file necessary plans
and applications with the city departments and pay for,
and obtain, all certificates of approval.
3. Dimensions are to finished floors, walls and ceilings. The
contractor assumes all responsibility for accuracy of field
measurements and conditions. Written specifications shall
have precedence over scaled drawings.
4. No responsibility will be assumed by PATTERSON DENTAL
COMPANY, or any of it's employees, if the plans and/or
specifications are deviated from. Changes must be app-
roved in writing.
5. All plumbing and electrical lines are to be concealed, un-
less otherwise specified.

6. All labor and material necessary to changes in existing
plumbing, carpentry and electrical work must be done by
the contractor and IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE COST OF THE
EQUIPMENT.
7. The contractor shall remove rubbish and do all patching
after roughing in is completed.
8- Air conditioning and heating systems to turn air in
suite six times per hour, minimum, and maintain 68 to
75 degrees throughout the suite. Thermostat to be loc-
ated in suite. One register in each room, minimum.
Contractor shall determine size and location of units,
ducts and electrical and/or plumbing lines as necessary.
9. Rough and finish for dental equipment is to be accord-
ing to templates furnished by manufacturers of dental
equipment being installed. A representative of PATTERSON
DENTAL COMPANY will position said templates in their
proper locations, at which time all specifications will be
explained to the contractor or sub -contractor. All speci-
fied sizes of pipes, tubings, etc. must be rigidly followed
as well as proper heights marked. Any infractions on
sizes or heights of pipes, tubing or fittings will have to
be corrected before the equipment can be installed and
such extra expense will be the responsibility of the con-
tractor or sub -contractor.
10. The doctor shall designate responsibility for providing and
installing cabinets and formica counter tops (other than
those purchased from Patterson Dental Co.) in the lab,
dark room and sterilizing room, etc., also built-in desks
and counters in the business office.

4" X 4" posts with 16" centers. Install from
floor to supporting structure above. Wall to
support 1,500 Lbs. off center load. Follow
PLANMECA specifications. BY CONTRACTOR.

BACKING FOR PANORAMIC X-RAY STAND -
Install 2" x 12" flat, centered 82" across
entire Panoramic X-ray Area. Must support
150 Lbs. weight.BY CONTRACTOR.
11. Doctor shall make arrangements for installation of tele-
phones, inter -communications and music systems before
walls are closed in.
12. Circuit breaker box for suite to be located in suite and
conveniently accessible. Location to be approved by the
doctor
13. Provide locks on all outside and reception room doors.
Provide bathroom -style locks on all bathroom and dark-
room doors.
14. A FINAL CHECK of all roughing must be made by PATT-
ERSON DENTAL representative BEFORE PARTITIONS ARE
CLOSED and/or THE POURING OF CONCRETE FLOORS.
15. Install main water, air (and gas, where necessary) shut-
offs for each operatory, lab or sterilization areas.
16. The Patterson Dental Company representative shall give
instructions to the GENERAL CONTRACTOR ONLY. All
communications and coordination with tradesmen shall
be the responsibility of the general contractor.
17. Patterson Dental Company technicians will assemble and
connect to mechanical services, such as electrical, cold
water, gas, air, vacuum, whichever are required for oper-
ation of this item, provided such mechanical services are
SUPPLIED COMPLETELY by other trades and are brought
to positions specified by Patterson Dental representatives
and are supplied with proper connections, fittings or
junctions. We will connect to such fittings or junctions
provided our service technicians are permitted to do so
with state and local building codes.
PLUMBING SPECIFICATIONS
The plumber shall run all piping in accordance with local regulations. All plumb-
ing lines to be concealed, unless otherwise specified. During the dental equipment
installation THE PLUMBER MUST BE ON THE JOB TO CONNECT ALL PLUMBING LINES
to the dental units, modular cabinet sinks and faucets, air compressor and dryer
suction separator, developing tank/processor, gas & air valves and nitrous oxide/
oxygen valves. Manufacturer's specification templates for all dental equipment
will be provided by the Patterson Dental Supply representative. The representative
will also supervise the location of said templates.
LOW PRESSURE WATER VALVE - The plumber is to supply and install a low pressure
}o back flow prevention valve in the main cold water supply line that will be
supplying the dental equipment. The valve shall meet state plumbing code and shall
protect the water supply from contamination due to low water supply pressure.
DENTAL UNIT - Install 1/2" MPT air ( and/
D.U. or 1/2" OD suction, ONLY WHERE SPECIFIED) pipes above finished floor or out from
wall. See ADEC specification template for positioning. These dimensions
are CRITICAL and must comply with measurements of manufacturer's templates.
Adapters and valves, where indicated, must be rigidly conformed to. Install acc-
essible water & air valves for each unit. Provide water pressure regulator, if the
pressure exceeds 150 PSI.
AIR COMPRESSOR - Starting from air compressor location, run 1/2" copper air
C, line and tee off to dental units and all other areas that require air. Reduce the
size of line to conform to manufacturer's specifications. (Example: Dental units,
wall outlets, etc.) Compressor air intake shall be from outside building, if practical,
or shall be stored in location with neither vacuum system discharge or chemical
based material storage. Compressor supplied by doctor and connected by plumber.
See A/T compressor specifications for pre -installation details.
AIR OUTLET - Reduce to 3/8" FPT flange flush with wall. Comply with manufact-
urer's valve adaptation to line. Install at height/position provided by dr.
GAS OUTLET - Some specifications as air outlet for gas outlet.
Mie Miele instument washer- Plumber to Install Rough plumbing per pre -install instructions provided
and spotted by patterson.
100 X-RAY PROCESSOR - Plumber to provide and install a valved cold water line with
garden hose -type valve at 18" above floor. Supply waste, at 18" above the floor,
with trapped standpipe. Waste lines to be PVC plastic or iron pipe. NO COPPER
USED IN DEVELOPER WASTE SYSTEM. Any exposed plumbing, above the counter top,
to be chrome. Follow A/T 2000 specifications for rough -in.
MODULAR CABINET SINK AND SINGLE LEVER FAUCET - Install waste, hot and cold
water lines 18" above floor. In OPS BY PLUMBER.
STERICENTER - Supplied and installed by the patterson, Rough in by plumber.
g Follow STERICENTER TEMPLATE -
PLASTER TRAP - Install for lab sink and model trimmer. Supplied by the doctor
PT and installed by plumber. Brace trap to support weight of full trap and to simplify
the removal of cannister for cleaning.
MODEL TRIMMER - Install cold water line with a 1/4" chrome angle stop above the
MT counter top. Model trimmer has a 1" male nipple for flexible waste pipe connection.
Plumber to run waste line from trimmer to sink tailpipe/plaster trap with tee into
sink strainer tailpiece connection. Provided by doctor and installed by plumber.
SO SUCTION OUTLET - Incorporated into dental unit plumbing ("D.U.") as designated
on plan. Reduce riser to 1/2" O.D. Copper through floor (or wall) with 2" stub out.
SUCTION UNIT - WET SYSTEM -
SjW 1 SUCTION LINE - Run "X" main line in rigid copper or schedule 40 PVC piping
80 ps minimum) reduce to 1/2" OD coppr below and through the floor, or wall, in
treatment room, as indicated on plan. At power unit, reduce end of 1" main
line to 1" FPT fitting. Plumber to install 45's to avoid 90 degree angles, where
possible. See APOLLO specifications.
#2 DRAIN - Connect to a minimum 2" vented waste line. If local code does not
permit, connect to floor sink or stand pipe. Drain must be located within 3' of
suction power unit. See APOLLO specifications.
#3 WATER - Provide a valved 1/2" FPT cold water line within 3' of suction unit.
#4 EXTERNAL VENT - For exhaust air, install air/water separator with connection to
external vent. Exhaust shall be located remote from any door, window, intake or
discharge. Follow APOLLO specifications for installation.
