You are directed to make the following changes in this Contract: ITEM For Proiect # 16 -ENG -55, Main Street and Gray Road Roundabout At the direction of the City of Carmel, changes to the contract were required to construct a decorative wall and fencing on the southeast corner of Main St and Gray Rd to comply with the permanent and temporary right of way acquisition agreement with the property owners, Scott and Stacy Yeh, Lot 87, Brookshire Section 4. Originally, a Mechanically Stabilized Earth Retaining Wall (MSE Wall) was designed for this purpose. The contractor, White Construction, submitted a proposal to substitute a Modular Block Retaining Wall, at a significant price reduction. This proposal was accepted by the City of Carmel and those costs are reflected in this change order. Box 249 Clinton, IN 47842 (800) 355 9401 White Construction is respectfully proposing a construction change to the proposed MSE wall. This proposal would eliminate the added MSE wall and replace with a reinforced retaining wall at the same location. The table below shows the unit prices for both the MSE wall and retaining wall items. As you can see, there is a considerable cost savings by using the reinforced retaining wall by $45,722.28. I've attached the preliminary design for the reinforced retaining wall, provided by Reading Rock Building Materials and Services. If the retaining wall is approved for construction, an engineered set of plans will be submitted for review and approval. The fence will be a shadow box privacy type fence, that will be 6ft tall with 1x6 slats made of southern yellow pine. Please contact me if you have any questions or comments.
