Dear Sir or Madam,
On behalf of the Peripheral Retail Area review board, I am writing to confirm that the board
supports a signage variance for the Master Yoo's Tae Kwon Do building currently under
construction on Harleston Street. The initial signage submittal showed 28" tall letters, which is
within the guidelines, but this created a signage area greater then the allowable 45 sq. ft. If the
signage regulations were enforced, the letter size would have to be reduced to 12" or less, which
the board believes is much too small for the overall scale of the building.
Therefore, the review board is proposing a compromise. They are supporting the use of 24"
letters, slightly smaller than the 28" maximum allowed. This would still create a signage area
greater than 45 sq. ft., but not look completely out of scale for the building.
