Regarding your request to add a parapet or screen to the back of the existing building, We would like to submit our rationale for not doing this. I do not know the proper format for this. For reference, here is our position: 1. Adding this element would substantially increase the cost to the Owner as the following, if not more, would be affected: a. New roof drainage would have to be accommodated.The existing roof would have to be rebuilt or built on top by adding new sloped areas to direct drainage to specific scuppers. Currently, the roof drains to a gutter along the north edge of the building.The Owner was not planning to do any work to the roof. b. The stability of the existing structure will have to be studied and possibly strengthened to accommodate the additional build. 2. In addition, the existing equipment on the roof is to be removed as it was specific to the grocery mart that was there previously. Hopefully this will alleviate concerns about visual clutter on this side of the building. We would like to ask not to build this additional structure. That being said, we are happy to add a parapet to the west side of the new book drop addition as requested. Please let me know how we should proceed.
