Thank you for the responses, Nils.
You have addressed all comments and concerns of the Planning/Zoning Dept. and the Windemere Gated Entrance
proposal is approved administrate.
As a (hopefully) final step, please check with Caleb Warner in the Carmel Engineering Dept. for any permits needed for
construction. (I know you will be doing improvements within a private street area, but construction equipment will be
using city roads to get to the site.)
Have a great day!

Subject: Revised Drawings, comments for Windemere gate project
Here are the final drawings. In reference to your last email:
A. Both east and west (entry and exit) drive lanes are at least 20' wide.
B. The pedestrian gates open freely and are self closing. They will not be locked.
D. 1. See "B" above.
4. School bus pick up/discharge areas will not change once the gates are in operation. The bus drivers will
have a key fob which permits entry. Carmel/Clay School Transportation Office will also have an additional spare
fob.
6. Upon completion of the project, the disturbed areas will be grassed.
9. There will be no access restrictions in regard to City or County departments.
11. Power to the gate operators is continuous. In the event of a major power outage the default position of
the gates is the "open" position.
Today I spoke with John Thomas at Carmel Engineering. Their department will not require a separate code. He stated
that they would simply call CPD for access if it became necessary.
I think this covers everything. Please advise.

Happy New Year to you, too, Nils!
You list below looks good. I also suggest you contact the Carmel Engineering Dept., too; they will probably
need a code. You can contact Alex Jordan and John Thomas at 317-571-2441 or aiordan(@carmel.in.eov and
Ithomas@carmel.in.ov
Regarding my department's remaining review comments; my 10/26/18 email to you listed the remaining
planning/zoning review comments. (The comments are also listed below, and updated with that you have
addressed thus far.) Please make sure that those are all addressed in writing, and that we also get a digital
copy of the revised plans and fence/gate elevations. Thanks!
A. What is the width of the drive lanes (the ones on each side of the guard house)?
B. And, are the pedestrian access gates locked, or can they be opened freely?

Good morning, Nils —
It is an administrate review/approval process; there are no meetings or deadlines. You just have to make sure
you comply with the zoning ordinance Gates requirements, and also work with all pertinent representatives
from the various city/county agencies (which are all copied on this email).
From a Planning/Zoning standpoint, I will review your responses against the Gate regulations and get back
with you soon with any remaining questions we might have. Thanks.
Sincerely,

HCSO will need a permanent gate access code, as the storm sewers remain Hamilton County Regulated
Drain, as you know. Be sure to get our office that code when you get ready to put the gates in service.

Thanks you Teresa. Yes, that is the plan. CPD access code will be provided to you during installation of the operating
equipment and tested prior to putting the system into operation. Will you be my contact person?

Perhaps the following information will answer outstanding questions
We have signed a contract with K&K Fence to provide and install all material and equipment related to the project. They
have assured us that they are aware of current conformance standards. The system/equipment that will be installed
includes, but is not limited to:
1. Liftmaster CSW24U Electric Gate Operators with Thermostat Controlled Heaters, Safety Vehicle Loop Sensors, Safety
Photo Beams, Free Exit Loop at Exit Gate, Fire Department Knox Keyswitch, and S.O.S. Siren Sensor.
2. Also installed will be Door King 1835 PC Programmable Visitor Phone Entry, Weigand Radio Receiver with Microplus
Transmitters, and Liftmaster LM Radio Receiver with 811 LM Transmitters.
Depending on late winter weather conditions, we hope to begin work in April, 2019, and expect the project to take 60-90
days to complete.
Angelina, can you please advise me as to what "formal" steps may be required in order to continue moving
forward? Thank you.

Re: Windemere Gate
The CFD will also require a Knox switch to be installed for the Gate that will allow for Rapid Fire Dept.
Access. I do not recall speaking to anyone in reference to this project so it is possible Fire Marshal Knott talked
to someone.
Additionally, the only plans I've have seen is what was attached to Angies's e-mail from earlier today.

Wow. I am glad I stopped by this afternoon. I did not think that after the Ordinance anything further was
required. In answer to your "check list":
1. The drive lanes are 20' wide, both east and west sides.
2. The pedestrian gates are not locking but are self closing.
3. Fire Department access - the operating system is will be equipped with the "whoop" siren sensor that
was requested By C.F.D. They will also have an access code.
4. Police Department access - access code will be provided.
5. School buses will have access codes for entry for normal pick up inside the subdivision.
6. Landscaping - The entire area will be grassed except for a planter of sorts on the north side of the
masonry wall on the median. It will be of similar design and scale as the existing planted areas at the
gate house and existing masonry walls.
7. Where/when required, all State, County, City or other inspectors or employees will have access to the
subdivision while on official business.
8. Power is continually supplied to the operating system. In the event of a power outage, the default
status of the gates is "OPEN".
All of this was addressed (I thought) in our initial application to the City for vacation of the stred, ets, all of
the intervening discussions and approvals, and finally the Ordinance. I have spoken to C.P. D. and
C.F.D. and have designed and contracted for a a system which complies with their requirements. But do I
understand that we must now go through a similar chain of events before we can begin
construction? Please advise.
