HomeMy WebLinkAboutNorthwood Hills Civic Association Newsletter April 2019 i, or hwood Hills Tu 111° Civic Association /ews'u.`¢'- on "• APRIL 2019 the President's DID YOU KNOW Message Did you know Northwood Hills has a Home Owners Association? We sure do, it's called the Northwood Hills Civic Association (NHCA). We are voluntary which means no mandatory rules or dues. We will collect dues, but we won't do a payment plan. Why? Because it's $25 per year! That's right there's no zeros in that amount, just $25 per year. You ask "what do I get for my hard earned $25?" Glad you asked... Did you know the dues we collect are for all sorts of things? We like to socialize, we organize Easter Egg hunts and neighborhood garage sales and Annual picnics and Chili cook-offs and Pink Flamingo parties (fun for the adults). Plus...other fun social events. We also like to take pride in our neighborhood with Yard of the month awards and Dumpster Days (cleanout that garage or shed) and Fourth of July mailbox decorating awards and Stork yard signs announcing new arrivals and holiday house decorating awards. We replaced the entrance signs several years ago, volunteers maintain them and plant seasonal flowers to keep them looking new&fresh. We also are the voice for NWH with the city of Carmel. Did you know the bridge &drainage on 116th didn't happen without our input? Did you know the bridge and drainage under Westwood Dr. didn't happen without our input? Did you know the side walk connecting Northwood Dr. to 122nd St. didn't happen without our input? Did you know the paving last summer of Westwood & Northwood didn't happen without our input? Did you know we've had the mayor and several city councilors attend our neighborhood meetings? Did you know this HOA doesn't have "Northwood Police"? We aren't in the business of"policing" our neigh- bors. This HOA isn't empowered to do this nor do we want that. Like the rest of the city of Carmel were all ac- countable to city codes &ordinances. So if you see a property where trash has piled up, or leaves are burning or grass needs mowed it's the city's responsibility to oversee these issues. This HOA is about as laid back as it gets. In the coming months we'll have a neighborhood wide meeting to discuss Board positions and city councilor Jeff Worrell will speak and answer questions. Feel free to contact me or anyone on the Board to discuss anything pertaining to neighborhood business.
