I. Fire barrier shall be continuous from outside wall to outside wall,
From another fire barrier to a fire barrier, or a combination thereof:
Including continuity through all concealed spaces such as those
found above a ceiling, Including Interstitial spaces.
Openings through floors, such as stairways, elevator holctways, and
shoftways used for light, ventilation or building services, shall be
enclosed with fire barriers (vertical) such as wall or partition
assemblies. Such enclosures shall be continuous from floor to floor.
Openings shall be protected as appropriate for the fire resistance
rating of the barrier.
Passages of pipes, conduits, bus ducts, cables, wires, alyducts,
pneumor lc ducts, and slmllar buildings service equipment through fire
barriers shall be protected as follows:
The space between the penetrating Item and fire barrier shall be
filled with a material capable of maintaining the fire resistance rating
of the fire barrier product. Product used must meet test methods
A5TM Eb4 or UL 141q for fire rating.
Provide detailed wall, floor/ceiling assemblies, specify materials and
give laboratory listing 4 design numbers. Show fire protection under
tubs, showers, fireplace and HVAC. Give detailed fire stopping in
concealed spaces of each floor/ceiling level and wall
(Ni 101 b-2,2, CGFCO-13 4 14).
Fire barriers atoll be effectively and permanently identified with 2"
stenciling above any decorative ceiling and concealed spaces.

2. Rooms or areas designated for storage, mechanical, furnace room
or janitor closet shall be separated from the rest of the colliding
by good one hour rated fire -resistive construction with all openings
protected by 45 minute labeled fire door assembly.
3. All exit doors to have approved panic hardware (Ni 101 5-2.1.1).
4. The floor on both sides of a door shall be level and shall have the
some elevation on both sides of the door, for a distance on each
side at least equal to the width of the widest single door
(Ni 101 5-2.1.3.3).
5. All landings and steps shall be solid with no perforations at all.
There shall be no nosings or open toe risers on any steps regardless
of size and shall be at least 44 inches wide and have treads with
a minimum of 1 inches in height. Disable access landings shall de 60
Inches.
6. Provide sturdy handralls on both sides of any steps three or more
risers In height (34" handraip. (42" guardrail along open side of stairs)
1. Every door inside and outside every building shall be provided with
handicap hardware (levers, panic hardware, or a -shape designed
devices, etc).
