Steel studs shall be ABER A570, Grade 50 for 12, 14 and 16 gauge, and ADEN A570, grade 33 for 18
and 20 gauge. Provide studs with section properties equal to or greater than those shown on the
drawings. Manufacturers literature indicating the size, gauge, sectional properties and materials to be used
shall be submitted for approval to the architect prior to fabrication in accordance with the specifications.
Studs are to be 16 gauge use studs 0 16" o.c. with 16 gauge unpunched track unless design analysis
requires otherwise. Design shall be provided by styeel stud supplier and performed by a licensed
professional in accordance with the current Indiana Building Code.

NOTES:
L Effective properties based on Fy = 50ksi for 12, 14 and 16 gauge sections.
Fy = 33ksi for 18 and 20 gauge sections.
2. Effective properties and allowable moment incorporate the strength increase from cold -work of forming where
applicable. (AISI A5.2.2)
3. For deflection calculations, use the effective moment of inertia.

5. Tabulated areas are based on the full un-reduced cross section of the studs away from web punchouts.
6. For weak -axis orientations, technical assistance is required. Contact the manufacturer for this assistance
7. Lightweight steel framing components shall be cut squarely or as required to fit neatly against abutting
members. Members shall be held firmly in place until properly fastened.
8. Joining of 18 gauge and heavier members shall be done by fillet, plug, butt or seam welding unless
specified otherwise.
9. Studs shall be of the sizes indicated and shall be seated squarely in the tracks with the stud web and
flanges abutting the track web and shall be securely attached by welding, screwing or bolting. Track shall be
securely anchored to the floor and overhead structure or member. Track shall be butt welded or Joined by
splice plates as required.
10, Splices in axially loaded studs shall not be permitted.
11, All welding shall comply with AWS DlS specifications and shall be done by calif welders.

Zone 4 (Leeward): A = 10 sft; IN = -40.1 psf
