Mr. Daniel Sanders and Ms. Ashley Sanders, 9649 Sycamore Road, Carmel, IN 46032
Dear Mr. Theriault ,
Per a May 2, 2019 request, we are providing a summary of our structural evaluation regarding a vehicle strike to
the residence that occurred on April 25, 2019, at 9649 Sycamore Road, Carmel, Indiana. Seven photographs are
included with this report. A total of 294 photographs are in our file and available upon request.
Conclusion
Based on our investigation, it is our opinion that there are localized damages to the structure as a result of the
vehicle strike to the attached garage region of the home. It is our opinion that these damages are repairable.
The following approximate quantities of damaged structural elements require repair or replacement.
1) Approximately 85 square feet of exterior brick masonry.
2) Approximately 11′ length of exterior light-framed wall along the west/front of the garage and adjacent
bedroom, including king-post for the garage door header, 2x4 wall spacers located between header and
exterior face, and framed opening for an approximately 40″x60″ window
3) Door head trim board (approximately 1″x8″x16′) and exterior face trim boards above garage door.
4) Approximately 6ʹ of light-framed wall at north wall of bedroom (common with attached garage south wall).
We observed the south end of the overhead garage door header (double 2x12) to be displaced approximately 1/4ʺ
inward. There was no damage to the header itself. We observed no witness marks such as cracked top or bottom
wall plates, or witness marks (newly exposed wood) on the supporting framing confirming that the roof structure
and the floor joists were not displaced during the event. We observed no cracks at the head and bed joints of the
CMU foundation wall below the bedroom confirming that the foundation was not damaged by the event.
