Variable Air Volume Systems
Variable Air Volume Rooftop Units
• Fan shall modulate to maintain design static pressure during occupied mode.
• Compressors shall be enabled during occupied mode.
• Compressors shall be enabled and fan shall modulate to maintain design static pressure
during unoccupied mode to maintain cooling setback temperature of 76"F (adj).
• Gas Heat section shall be available during occupied heating mode only.
• Modulating Economizer shall be available during all modes.
Coolincl
T •• RTU to stage and compressors to maintain a discharge air temperature of 550F
(adj).
•• Upon call from dual enthalpy controller, unit to enter economizer mode and shall
modulate the mixing damper to maintain a discharge air temperature of 550F (adj).
•• Gas heater shall not operate while in cooling mode or unoccupied mode.
Heating
•• RTUto maintain R aina discharge air temperature of 57°F (adj).
•• Upon call from dual enthalpy controller, unit to enter economizer mode and shall
modulate the mixing damper to maintain a discharge air temperature of 57°F (adj).
•• Gas Heater shall operate and stage operation if supply discharge temperature falls
below 55"F (adj).
Outdoor l Ventilation
•• RTU to maintain a minimum
mof 500 CFM of outdoor air at all times.
•• Upon call from dual enthalpy controller, unit to enter economizer mode and shall
increase outdoor air to up to 100% but not less than 500 CFM.
•• Any reduction in the necessary supply air volume shall be deducted from return air and
the outdoor air shall not be less than 500 CFM during occupied schedule.
•• RTU to protect itself from mixed air of s4l Outdoor air intake to modulate to reduce
outdoor it to maintain at least 40OF mixed air temperature.
Terminal Boxes (VAV)
• Terminal Boxes shall operate via wall mounted Thermostat.
• Terminal Boxes shall maintain a 72°F (adj) setpoint when occupied.
• Terminal Boxes shall be capable of occupied/unoccupied setpoint programming. (Night
Set Back)
•• Cooling Mode
••• Upon call for cooling during occupied mode, Terminal Box shall modulate to open
primary air damper from minimum position cool space. If space temperature
continues to rise, the damper will open more fully until the space temperature
decreases. When thermostat is satisfied, the damper shall modulate to minimum
position (see schedule).
••• When in cooling mode, if the space temperature falls below l (adj), and the
primary air damper is in minimum position, the 1st stage of electric heat shall
energize to maintain setpoint (72°F) (adj).
ting Mode
99 we VAV Boxes:
•••• The terminal box shall continue to maintain the minimum supply volume. Upon call
for heat in occupied mode, shall energize first stage of heat. If the space
temperature fails to rise, the 2nd and 3rd stages shall be energized sequentially.
When the thermostat is satisfied, the terminal box heater shall de -energize the
sage of heat and use the lowest stage of heat to maintain 72°F (adj) space
temperature.
Humidifier
• Energize to maintain 40% RH (adj.) upon call from humidistat.
