All work to be in compliance with the Illi nos Plu pricing Code, Illi mays Accessibility Code and all state and local ordinances. B. All applicable provisions of the General Condit ons and the General Requirements for Meehan at Work are a pad of this section. 2. Scope of Work: A. Furnish all labor, materials , equipment, supervison and services required for complete installation of plumbing service as required for complete installation of plumbing systems as indicated, specified or reasonably implied. B. Systems shall be complete, operable installations. All work to be done in accordance with local and national plumbing codes. 3. General Requirements: A. Piping shall not be installed at locations hating ducMwork until after air ducts are in place and this contractor shall be responsible for routing his work to clear air ducts as well as light fixtures and equipment of other trades. B. Runs of piping are in pad, diagrammatic, and contractor shall run piping to best fit field conditions. Field variation of scale dimensions of drawings is required. Since actual locations, dimensions and levels will be governed by architectural drawings and actual field conditions. Provide access panels where P Y Pe P P required. 4 Shop Drawings A. Review of shop drawings does not relieve Contractor of responsibility for correct ordering of material or equipment B. Include all significant data on shop drawing submittals shown in Specifications and Equipment Schedules. C. Contractor review should insure that equipment will fit into available space. D. Submit shop drawings in brochure form and include all related equipment in one brochure. E Submit two (2) copies more than Contractor needs for his use. Or, provide electronic copies. F. After award of contract, submit within 30 days. G. Submit shop drawings of all major plumbing components, such as plumbing figures, etc. Coordinate with Engineer. H. Contractor shall review and approve and affix his company name (in the form of a stamp) and project name to all shop drawings and submittals before subrrittng. 5. Electrical Wiring: A. Will be furnished by Electrical Contractor. This Contractor shall furnish necessary controls, wiring diagrams and instructions. 6. Piping Drawings: A. Repair leaks and defects with new materials and retest piping, or portion thereof, until satisfactory results are obtained. 4. Prepare repel for tests and required corrective action. B. In the event a material for a specific use is not mentioned, contractor shall supply best material suitable for use intended. B. Sanitary Waste and Vent: 1. All drain lines to be Solid wall PVC (ASTM D 2665), Type K Copper (ASTM B306) or Hubless Cast Iron ASTM A 888. DO NOT USE CELLULAR CORE PVC. 2. Vertical and horizontal lines shall be concealed, unless specifically indicated as exposed. 3. Installation of sanitary piping shall be carefully planned to meet invert elevators as required. via to 4. Solder and fluxes shall be lead free, equal to or less than 0.2 percent lead. 5. Install dielectric fittings where material changes make ft necessary. 6. Hot and Cold water lines below slab shall be separated by a minimum of as (6) inches. 7. Water shpplyto figures shall be sized as shown on drawings. In no case shall they be less than as indicated in slate and local codes. B. Fixture supplies to be chrome plated. 9. Provide individual stops for each fixture. 9. Insulation: A. Insulation Materials 1. Products shall not contain asbestos, lead, mercury, or mercury compounds. 2. Producisthat come in contact with stainless steel shall have a leachable chloride content of lessthan 50 ppm when tested accordng to ASTM C 871. 3. Insulation materials for use on thematic stainless sleet shall be qualified as acceptable acceding to ASTM C 795. 4. Foam insulation materials shall not use CFC or HCFC blowing agents in the manufacturing process. 5. Cellular Glass: Inorganic, incombustible, foamed or cellulated glass with annealed, rigid, hermetically sealed cells. B. Flexible Elastomeric Insulation: Closed-cell,sponge-or expanded -rubber materials. Comply with ASTM C 534, Type I for tubular mMences. B. Adhesives 1. Materials shall be compatible with insulation materials,jackets, and substrates and for bonding insulation to itself and to surfaces He be insulated, unless otherwise indicated. 2. Cellular -Glass Adhesive: Two -component, lhermosetfing urethane adhesve containing no flammable solvents, with a service temperature range of minus 100 to plus 200 deg F. 3. Flexible Elastomeric and Polyol efin Adhesive: Comply with MIL-A-24179A, Type II, Class I. Cr Protective Shielding Guards 1. Protective Shielding Pipe Covers: a. Description: Manufactured plastic wraps for covering plumbing figure hot- and Coldwater supplies and Imp and drain piping. Comply with Americans with Disabilities Ad(ADA) requirements. D. Preparation 1. Surface Preparation: Clean and dry sudaces to receive insulation. Remove maerals that will adversely affect insulation application. 2. Coordinate insulation installation with the trade installing heal tracing. Comply with requirements for heat tracing that apply to Insulation. 3. Mix Insulating cements with clean potable water; it insulating cements are to be in contact with stainless -steel surfaces, use deminerallzed water. E. General Installation Requirements 1. Install insulation materials, accessories, and finishes with smooth, straight, and even surfaces; free of voids throughout the length of piping including finings, valves, and specialties. 2. Install insulation materials, forms, vapor farmers or retarders, jackets, and thicknesses required for each item of pipe system as specified in insulation system schedules. 3. Install accessories compatible with insulation materials and suitable for the service. Bond seams and jcnis with adhesive recommended by insulation apparel manufacturer. 9. Install insulation with least number of joints practical. 10. Apply adhesives, mastics, and sealants at manufacturer's recommended coverage rate and wet and dry film thicknesses. 11. Install insulation with factory -applied jackets as follows: a. Draw jacket tight and smooth. b. Cover circumferential joints with 3- inch -wide strips, of same material as insulation jacket. Secure strips with adhesve and outward clinching staples along both edges of strip, spaced 4lnches nor c. Overlap jacket longitudinal seams M least 1-1/2 inches. Install insulation with longitudinal seams at bottom of pipe. Clean and dry surface to receive self-sealing lap. Staple laps with outward clinching Maples along edge at 2 inches o.c. (1) For below-ambead services, apply vaporbarrier mastic over staples. d. Cover joints and seams with tape, according to insulation material manufacturer's written instructions, to maintain vapor seal. e. Exposed Sanitary Drains, Domestic Water, Domestic Hot Water, and Stops for Plumbing Figures for People with Disabilities: Insulation shall be the following: a. Protective Shielding Pipe Covers. 10.
