1. The approval of this variance will not be injurious to the public health, safety, morals and general welfare of
the community because:
The requested variance will not be injurious to public and will create
a safer school site for users of the school and surrounding members
of the community traversing near the new building.
2. The use and value of the area adjacent to the property included in the variance will not be affected in a
substantially adverse manner because:
The adjacent properties will not be negatively affected as seen by the
same signs erected at all other Carmel Clay Schools campuses.
3. The strict application of the terms of the Unified Development Ordinance to the property will result in
practical difficulties in the use of the property because:
The limited size of UDO approved directional sigange does provide
adequate space for recommended letter sizes for automobile users.
Compliant signs would be difficult to read for those needing the information.
DECISION
It is therefore the d9cision of the Carmel Board of Zoning Appeals that Development Standards Variance Docket
No. 16\010010 V is granted, subject to any conditions stated in the minutes of this Board,
which are incorporated herein by reference and made a part hereof.

1. The approval of this variance will not be injurious to the public health, safety, morals and general welfare of
the community because:
The requested variance will not be injurious to public and will provide
additional safe hours of recreation for Carmel residents contributing
to the health and general welfare of the community.
2. The use and value of the area adjacent to the property included in the variance will not be affected in a
substantially adverse manner because:
The adjacent property will not be negatively affected as the adjacent
property will house a residential driveway and no buildings. The adjacent
property owner is supportive of this requested variance.
3. The strict application of the terms of the Unified Development Ordinance to the property will result in
practical difficulties in the use of the property because:
Without lighting for the baseball fields, playing time will be significantly
restricted especially in late fall and early spring.
DECISION
It is therefore the decision of the Carmel Board of Zoning Appeals that Development Standards Variance Docket
No. liVOCi( V is granted, subject to any conditions stated in the minutes of this Board,
which are incorporated herein by reference and made a part hereof.
