The Ferroguard Screener should be installed at a mmenient
location on a wall that is:
. In, or near to, the patient changing/walting area, but
away from the MRI doorway.
• Within 5' (LS m) of a low-lying power outlet, but after
installation the unit should not obscure the power
outlet.
• Away from magnetic interference sources such as
nearby airvconditioning units, fans, motors, elevators,
key card readers and bury corridors (even if they are
the other side o(the wal1J.
• Eary to access but unlikely to be hit by passing
patient transfer equipment.
Once you have chosen a suitable wall, it is prudent to [est
the location prior to mounting the Ferroguard Screener
system.

3 Product Description & Overview
3.1 How does Ferroguard Screener improve
SafP.ty?
It is vital that no ferroma netic ob-ects are taken in to the MRI
9 I
room_ If they are, they can cause highly dangerous prqectlles,
which wn harm atients and staH as well as dama e
P 9
expensive MRI Eqmpment.
In additlon, any small ferromagnetic objec[s on a patient can
cause imaqe distortion, and so result in time wasted and
mstl re-scans.
Y
Fermguard Screener was developed to be used in
conjunction with hospitals' own patient
screening questionnaires. i
32 What is Ferroguard Screener?
Ferroguard Saeener is your sixth sense in
MRI safety.
The system mnsists of a Sensor Unit,
(which is mounted on a wall in or near ro
the patient preparation area). Thls is
dasigned ro alert staff to the presence of
potentially dangerous ferromagnetic Items
before they reach the MRI Room) and a
seH-adhesive floor mat, on which the .
patients stand to be screened.
When patients stand on the mat and rotate,
any mov no ferrous objects are detec[ed by the Ferroguard
Screener as it picks up on any changes in the magnetic field.
See Sec[ion 4 for more information.
